Context
In the framework of the situation regarding the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees across Greece, IOM Greece is establishing a pool of candidates interested to join the organization as soon as possible. The action under which the candidates will be selected shall contribute to the provision of targeted care interventions to the unaccompanied children (UMC) residing in Greece. Therefore, IOM will capitalize on its extensive experience on the areas of child protection so as to provide tailored support and interventions to the UMC by offering accommodation and care services.
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator/Field Office Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Facility Coordinator, the successful candidate will take care of the assigned facility and carry out cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Ensure that all the facility premises are kept clean and in an orderly condition; this includes but is not limited to: keeping clean all rooms, office premises, balconies, lavatories, corridors, stairs, backyards, gardens, garbage disposals, walkways, surrounding areas of the office, and all equipment and appliances.
- Use appropriate cleaning supplies for each type of surface or equipment, especially computers and printers.
- Organize and assist unaccompanied migrant children in keeping their rooms clean and tidy.
- Organize unaccompanied migrant children with their laundry, operate washing machines and dryers.
- Prepare and follow cleaning schedules.
- Report to the Facility Coordinator any problems with the fittings in lavatories, or any other related to the facility.
- Ensure that all lavatory supplies (toilet paper, soaps, and hand towels) are available always and replenish when needed.
- Attend to cleaning supplies stock and prepare list of supplies to be purchased, when requested.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Education
- High School degree/certificate with one year of relevant working experience;
- Training or certification relevant to the position is an advantage.
Experience
- Proven working experience as a Cleaner;
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies is an advantage.
Skills
- Good communication skills, personal commitment, efficiency and flexibility;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Ability to work under difficult conditions.
- Ability to work in shifts (afternoon and/or weekends)
Languages
For this position, working knowledge of Greek is required (oral and written).
Working knowledge of English is advantage.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
