Position Summary

Alliance is seeking to recruit a Climate Action Intern. The intern will work with the Climate Action team, supporting implementation activities for the CLIM-ARM. The intern will support several activities that will lead to the development of high-quality data and reports, including offering administrative support. The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya office.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Setting up appointments for online interviews with key informants.
  • Collecting data for CLIM-ARM project.
  • Assisting in identifying relevant priority interventions based on project objectives.
  • Assisting in the development of project report(s).
  • Collecting data on the costs and benefits associated with implementing prioritized ARM measures.
  • Verifying the accuracy and reliability of collected cost and benefit analysis data, including potential biases and uncertainty.
  • Conducting simple descriptive analysis of costs and benefits.
  • Assisting in conducting desktop and literature review.
  • Supporting any other project-related activities as required.

 

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and applied economics
  • An MSc will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of agriculture, climate change and related environmental issues.
  • Experience in conducting literature review and stakeholder interviews.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in using statistical software such as Excel, Stata, R, or Python to clean, analyze, and visualize data.
  • Ability to conduct research to collect relevant data and information from various sources such as literature reviews, interviews, and surveys.
  • Be able to manage their time effectively and work efficiently under deadlines.
  • Have a keen eye for detail and be able to identify any errors or inconsistencies in the data.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with other team members and stakeholders to achieve project goals.

Terms of employment:

This is an internship position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The contract will be for period of six (6) months.
