These positions are located in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA). The Close Protection Officers will be based in Bangui. The Close Protection Officer at the FS-4 level reports to the Chief Security Adviser through the Close Protection Coordinator on all close protection issues.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, and under the direct supervision of the Close Protection Team Leader, the Close Protection Officer will carry out the following duties:
• Conducts and coordinates personal protection operations for the designated official when on duty.
• Remains within the proximity of the principal at all times.
• Remains vigilant and alert in case of any threat to the protected person and acts accordingly.
• Conducts all personal protection security operations as outlined in the UN personal protection management guidelines.
• Coordinates all activities with relevant parties to include the Security Operations Unit and other appropriate security organizations, as required.
• Whenever necessary, supervises drivers attached to the Close Protection Unit in the performance of their assigned duties.
• Operates all personal protection equipment and ensures equipment readiness.
• Carries all issued equipment while on duty.
• Conducts training sessions on personal protection subjects.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.

Education
Technical or vocational certificate is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
Technical training in military or police procedures as well as training in close protection, self-defense and security techniques is required.
Work Experience
At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in close protection with a local, national, private or international security organization is required.
Knowledge of CP operations in a high-risk environment is desirable.
Experience working in close protection or in support of a field operation of the United Nations Common System or a comparable international organization is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required and knowledge of French is desirable.
