COMMUNICATION AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING SENIOR ASSOCIATE

In support of GGGI’s Rwanda Program, we are currently seeking a talented individual for the role of Communication and Knowledge Sharing Senior Associate based in GGGI’s office in Kigali. Under the guidance of the Rwanda Country Representative, he/she will be responsible for handling the Program’s overall communication and knowledge sharing activities by supporting the development of communication strategies and plans for the program and projects including through content development, media engagement, communication, knowledge sharing, advocacy, and outreach activities in an inclusive and environmentally sustainable manner.

The Senior Associate will also be responsible for managing day-to-day tasks including media and social media content development, public relations, and project communications activities as well as providing support for meetings preparation, onsite events, and other pertinent tasks. The Senior Associate also supports GGGI’s global communication and knowledge sharing interventions and is part of the Global Communication and Knowledge Sharing team.

PURPOSE
  • Develop, implement, and monitor audience-centric communications strategies and plans, for the GGGI Rwanda country portfolio as well as specific projects.
  • Communicate project results by developing project factsheets, success stories, messages, and visualization, in line with GGGI and donor communication guidelines.
  • Following GGGI global guidelines, coordinate and manage country program publication including proofreading, designing, and assisting in publishing and dissemination.
  • Facilitate the external narrative of GGGI’s impacts and outcomes through diverse storytelling approaches, including blogs, vlogs, videos, articles, etc.
  • Ensure the uniformity of key messages across GGGI platforms, including websites and social media, maintaining a cohesive brand identity.
  • Research, adapt, and manage the country program’s communication products to ensure increased reach and recognition of the GGGI brand.
  • Support in branding and event organization at the country level, and regional level to connect and showcase GGGI’s priorities, programs, capacities, and impact.
  • Support the country’s knowledge sharing agenda through coordination of internal knowledge-sharing platforms and organization of brown bags
ENGAGEMENT
  • Report to the Rwanda Country Representative, on communication and knowledge sharing activities at the country level.
  • Engage with GGGI country-based staff to ensure quality and coherent branding, as well as support external audience-facing initiatives by elevating their visibility nationally, regionally and globally.
  • Maintain strong coordination with GGGI regional and global communication and knowledge-sharing team members to share, shape, and deliver effective and impactful communication and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Maintain strong coordination Communication focal points within focal ministries, and other government partners, donors, and partner organizations in Rwanda.
  • Engage with media in country to promote GGGI’s green growth solutions and impact.
DELIVERY

The Senior Associate will:

  • Support the development and implementation of GGGI’s communication and knowledge-sharing strategy in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Create a wide range of creative communication content supporting program and project delivery, including factsheets, press releases, social media posts, blogs, the quarterly newsletter, multimedia materials, and website posts and infographics.
  • Support the management of GGGI Rwanda specific social media platforms, ensuring consistent and effective messaging across all channels.
  • Drive a consistent and high-quality engagement with audiences on all social media platforms.
  • Support the upkeep of the GGGI website.
  • Support the development of high-quality publications and knowledge products including through editing, design, and translations, and ensure that these are disseminated consistently to target audiences.
  • Support the conceptualization, planning, and delivery of external-facing knowledge-sharing and public relations events and engage with local journalists.
  • Build and manage all GGGI media relations for the Rwanda Country Office.
  • Stay abreast of pertinent research and news within GGGI’s scope, distilling key messages for both internal colleagues and critical external audiences.
  • Engage with GGGI regional and global communication and knowledge sharing team members to share, shape, and deliver effective and impactful communication and knowledge sharing initiatives.
  • Analyze, measure, and report on communication efforts and provide advice if strategies and interventions need adjustment.
  • Support and help drive the consistent incorporation of gender and social inclusion in all communication and knowledge-sharing interventions.
  • Adhere to all GGGI visual, branding, and safeguarding guidelines in all communication and knowledge sharing products and interventions.
  • Stay informed about emerging communication trends, technologies, and best practices.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant area, such as communications, marketing, media, behavior change communication, or other related disciplines.
  • Minimum of five years of work experience within the field of communication, marketing, and knowledge management. Or Bachelor’s degree and five years’ of progress work experience in a relevant field.
  • A proven track record of creating engaging, innovative communication and knowledge production and knowledge sharing products and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience on projects funded by international development partners or NGOs will be a plus.
  • Advance expertise in use of social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, other)
  • Proficiency with systems like WordPress, Adobe Suite applications such as Photoshop and Illustrator, InDesign, other communication tools and technologies is a must.
  • Experience with knowledge production process and knowledge management principles.
  • Excellent writing skills, and excellent design and graphic skills will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated commitment and passion for climate change issues and green growth through life choices, academic studies, and paid/unpaid work experience.
  • Excellent communications skills in English are a must.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Communication and Knowledge Sharing Senior Associate is an X7 grade level in GGGI’s National salary scale. For the X7 National salary scale, the annual base salary starts from USD 24,949. Determination of base salary is subject to the candidate’s experience, academic background and internal equity.

  • GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.

We are currently seeking a talented individual for the role of Communication and Knowledge Sharing Officer to join our Rwanda Country Program. The selected candidate will contribute to efforts aimed at promoting the GGGI brand and effectively communicating our impact stories both internally and externally through creative and innovative approaches. The position will be for 12 months with the possibility of extension. Only those eligible to live and work in Rwanda will be considered for this position.
