The consultant should actively contribute to the coordination of all communications activities related to the Office of Investment Management. The Communications Consultant will be responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies to highlight the various portfolios of the Fund, under the overall directives established in the new UNJSPF Communication Strategy and Communications Policy.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Secretary-General is responsible for the investment of the assets of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). The Secretary-General has delegated this responsibility to the Representative of the Secretary-General for the investment of the assets of the UNJSPF (RSG). The RSG heads the Office of Investment Management (OIM), which manages a $80+ billion multi-asset class, global investment portfolio, about 85% of which is actively managed in-house. Asset classes under management comprise global equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, timber, and commodities. Under the supervision of the OIM Communications Officer, the consultant will be responsible for the following duties: – Prepare a diverse range of communication products in support of OIM priorities and works closely with departments to implement Fund-wide and UN Secretariat internal campaigns for relevant events. – Provide support with drafting strategies for sustainable investing, monitoring, and reporting on progress and taking appropriate follow-up actions; and analyzing the outcome of the communication efforts. – Provide support in promoting media coverage of priority activities outlined in the UNJSPF Communication Strategy and action plans, including pro-active social media plans. – Provide support with the production of content for internal and external communications, report on the impact of coverage, propose topics, undertake research and, determine appropriate substantive content. – Update the UNJSPF website and OIM intranet website upon obtaining clearances and finalizing texts per the UNJSPF Communications Policy. – Monitor and analyze current events, public opinion and press related to OIM identifies issues, and trends, and advises on appropriate action/responses. – Act as an alternate OIM communications focal point for UNJSPF website, participating in weekly check-ins with the developers and reports on developments related to the UNJSPF website. – Perform other assignments as required.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Do you have an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, or related field? A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Do you have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration, or related area? Do you have experience in internal and external communications? Do you have experience in reporting on complex finance, investment, and business-related topics to stakeholders, clients and the public at large? Do you have experience in financial communication or marketing?
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the consultancy. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
