The Communication Coordinator will provide direct support to the East Area Office in the implementation of NRC’s internal and external communication initiatives. In particular, he/she will be responsible for drafting, editing and translating communication materials for the media and social networks while keeping a close liaison with the Communications staff of the Country Office and other area offices.

Generic responsibilities:
- Develop and implement NRC’s communication strategy
- Ensure adherence to NRC’s policies and procedures
- Contribute to formulation and delivery of the advocacy messages
- Develop and suggest the remedies for information dissemination
- Ensure editing of NRC’s outgoing correspondence
- Establish and maintain contacts with NRC’s external counterparts
Specific responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of NRC Communications Strategy, based on the Country Advocacy Strategy, and in line with NRC’s Global Communications Strategy.
- Ensure the delivery of quality communication products in English, Ukrainian and Russian (feature stories, press releases, infographics, photo-stories, case studies, etc.)
- Coordinate with external humanitarian partners and develop bilateral working relationships with senior communication staff in UN, INGOs and local authorities
- Undertake regular travel to NRC program locations to gather content relating to NRC programs, and support program staff with communications-related activities.
- Support all programs teams with the development of visibility materials, ensuring these are developed in compliance with NRC and donor guidelines.
- Liaise with NRC’s grants and programs teams to ensure NRC is meeting its commitments to donors and communicating appropriately with communities
- Liaise with NRC’s partners to ensure proper coordination and provide capacity building, if needed.
- Craft creative products that portray the humanitarian situation and needs in a manner that is dignified and focuses on the capacity of people for individual agency, in line with NRC guidelines.
- Work closely with media and communications colleagues at the national, regional and global levels to develop, coordinate and polish communications materials.
- Contribute to formulation of the advocacy messages for NRC’s external counterparts (authorities)
- Enhance NRC team’s communication skills through training and coaching
- Representation of NRC in coordination and partner meetings, as requested
- Be updated on local and national news and provide briefings to NRC staff on relevant information
- Liaise professionally and efficiently with national and international journalists
- Support the strengthening of NRC’s media presence at national and local level, in line with NRC Ukraine’s advocacy, media and communications strategy, by proactively developing a network of journalists and other relevant media and communications actors in Dnipro
- Support NRC project in organization of public events, round tables, meetings, etc.
- Provide translation/interpretation whenever needed
- Submit regular activity reports to NRC management Develop communications-related tools, templates or SOPs as required. Any other communications-related task as required or directed.
- Perform any other tasks as requested by NRC management
Generic professional competencies:
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Previous experience working with INGO or equivalent experience working in media and communications
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Relevant university degree and demonstrated skills in content gathering, storytelling, and
- interviewing
- Thorough knowledge and experience managing social media accounts
- Thorough knowledge and experience drafting material for traditional media
- Thorough knowledge and experience with photography and videography, including video editing
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups through training, mentoring and other formal and non-formal methods
- Analytic and computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- Good knowledge of the context in Ukraine
- Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian
- Working knowledge of English language both speaking and writing
- High education with background preferably in journalism or similar
- Preferably experience of working in public relations
- Good Knowledge of the software programs (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
