Duties and Responsibilities
Many investment promotion agencies (IPAs) are undergoing strategic reset in response to the coronavirus crisis, the changing geopolitical landscape as well as new investment trends and opportunities. IPAs around the world had to adapt and rethink traditional investment promotion strategies, FDI models, and priority sectors in which to target FDI to build back better and get back on a path towards sustainable development. A key part of this rethink has also been the shift towards packaging, vetting, and promoting investible opportunities in sectors related to sustainable development and towards cooperating more within regional frameworks to promote themselves to attract investment, and where feasible boost trade. UN ESCAP has been providing technical assistance and capacity-building support to its member state Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) to support their national and regional investment attraction and promotion work in sustainable development sectors. This project ASEAN Green Investment Catalyst (AGIC) will focus on supporting the implementation of the ASEAN Regional Investment Promotion Action Plan (RIPAP), by boosting institutional capacity and project offerings of investment promotion agencies regionally and nationally to attract investment in green transition sectors. This ToR is for an individual contractor to provide communications and editorial support for the AGIC project, ensuring high-quality written outputs and materials to promote project activities and results. The deliverables include, a mix of impact stories, blogs, expert opinions, thought pieces, and case studies. Additional coordination will be required to align content planning with the AGIC team. Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Economic Affairs Officer, Innovation, Enterprise and Investment Section of the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division, the responsibilities are: • Develop editorial content such as impact stories, expert opinions, blogs, and thought pieces based on project reports and publications. • Incorporate feedback from the project team to refine and align content with AGIC’s objectives and overall content plan. • Coordinate with the communications focal point to ensure consistency in messaging and alignment with the project content plan. • Provide input on the overall content strategy, helping shape editorial direction and priorities. • Review knowledge products developed under AGIC to identify and develop editorial content that highlights key project insights and impact.
Qualifications/special skills
– Advanced university degree in communications, journalism, international relations, economics, development studies, business administration, or a related field. – Minimum 5 years of experience in communications, editorial work, content development, or a related field, with a focus on policy, sustainable development, or investment promotion. – Financial proposal per deliverable (A. – H.) must be mentioned in application. – Experience working with the United Nations is required. – Experience in communications strategy development, editorial work, and stakeholder engagement. – Strong writing and editing skills, particularly in developing policy-related content, impact stories, and case studies. – Experience working in private sector development is required.
Languages
Good spoken communication skills in English are required.
