Scope of Work (SOW) for Communications Consultant (Esho Shikhi Reports) TITLE: Communications Consultant (Esho Shikhi Reports)

LOCATION: Remote DEPARTMENT: Human Rights, Education, and Empowerment REPORTS TO: Chief of Party DATE: Starting September 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024 LOE: 20 Days

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Communications Consultant will provide short-term technical assistance to support the Senior Communications Manager with the writing, editing, and design of the 2024 annual report. He/she will be responsible for providing direction and oversight to the report preparation from initial drafting and coordination of team members through responding to USAID feedback. This position will work closely with the Senior Communications Manager and other department heads but will report to the Chief of Party. This consultancy is expected to begin on September 1, 2024. The Communications Consultant will be responsible for shaping the vision and content of Esho Shikhi’s 2024 performance reports as well as writing and editing content together with the Senior Communications Manager. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Work with the Senior Communications Manager to develop a plan and production calendar for completion of the annual report.

· With input from the Senior Communications Manager, draw on existing content from activity completion reports to start populating the narrative of the report. · Work with the team to identify 1-2 success stories to develop and include in each report. Lead this effort from the identification of the topics through the gathering of information and writing/editing. · Work with the Senior Communications Manager to gather the needed inputs from the team for each report.

· Ensure the report template is set up to comply with USAID branding regulations and style guide requirements. Provide capacity building for the Senior Communications Manager in this regard.

· Identify photos to include and simple visuals/graphics to develop for the report.

· Periodically meet with the Chief of Party, home office program management team, and others to update them on progress, discuss challenges, and receive feedback.

Education: · Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or another relevant field. Work Experience: · 5-6 years of experience supporting communications for USAID activities.

Skills: · Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including ability to coach and mentor · Fluency in written and oral English required · Knowledge of and experience applying USAID branding and style guide requirements Deliverables and Anticipated Completion Schedule for Quarter 3 Progress Report and Annual Report Writing # Deliverable Description Deadline and Suggested LOE 1 Plan and Production Calendar and Internal Draft FY 24 Annual Report A complete draft of the report appropriate for internal home office review.

Includes 1-2 success stories developed in collaboration with the field office staff. October 10, 2024 Estimated LOE 12 days 2 Client-Ready FY 24 Annual Report An edited, properly branded, and complete report ready for submission to the client.

Includes 4-5 final success stories. October 28, 2024 Estimated LOE 3 days 3 Final FY 24 Annual Report A final, clean version of the report with all donor questions and comments fully addressed. Copyedited and 508-compliant.

2 weeks after donor approval Estimated LOE 4 days 4 Capacity building with staff on report writing and success stories A 180 minute virtual session with field office staff (particularly field staff) on report writing and capturing project impact and how to identify a good success story and how to gather the important information. Could also include photography tips.
