JOB DETAIL

Result of Service

• Remuneration will be a monthly basic salary of USD 1700 net tax free.

Work Location

UNRWA, Jordan Field Office, Public Information Office

Expected duration

• The duration of the consultancy is 06 months with the expected start date of October 2023 with possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and satisfactory performance

Duties and Responsibilities

• Donor Visibility/Events
– Provide support to 3 to 6 Donor Visibility Projects and Events per month to increase their visibility and attract potential partners and stakeholders.

• Human-Interest Stories and Project-Specific Communications:
– Produce 2 human-interest stories, 4 interviews, 6 articles, and 2 photo-essays per month to showcase the impact of UNRWA’s initiatives in the different programmes and camps.

• Weekly Newsletter and Bi-weekly/Daily Events:
– Develop and disseminate a weekly newsletter highlighting key achievements, events, and initiatives of UNRWA Jordan.
– Plan, coordinate, and promote bi-weekly or daily events to enhance visibility and engagement.

• Storyline and Strategic Thinking for Videos/Visuals:
– Develop 4 compelling and strategic storylines per month for video productions that effectively communicate UNRWA’s mission, objectives, and initiatives.
– Collaborate with relevant teams to create impactful video content.
– Assist with creating high-quality written materials and clear messaging, including the use of radio as a communication tool.

• Support the Public Information Officer in Implementation of Communications and Outreach activities:
– Participate in 8 initiatives/campaigns/ideas to enhance UNRWA’s visibility and support resource mobilization efforts in accordance with HQ guidance.
• Social Media:
– On daily basis and upon ad-hoc requests, create content for UNRWA’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other digital media platforms. As well as Twitter Account for the Director of UNRWA Affairs in Jordan, and internal communication channels/platforms.

• Daily Media Review and Monitoring of UNRWA mentions:
– Conduct daily monitoring of media sources to gather relevant news and updates related to UNRWA’s activities and key development issues. Provide advice/recommendations based on findings.

• UNRWA Website and Intranet Supervision:
• Oversee the design and maintenance of the UNRWA Jordan intranet on daily basis, and ensure UNRWA Website has up-to-date information about UNRWA Jordan.

Qualifications/special skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

¿ A university degree from an accredited educational institution in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, International Development, Humanitarian development, Business Management, English literature in Communications or relevant; with at least 4 years of experience in a pure communications role including at least one year of experience outside of home country, or

¿ Advanced university degree from an accredited educational institution in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, International Development, Humanitarian development, Business Management, English literature in Communications or relevant; with at least 3 years of experience in a pure communications role including to at least one year of experience outside of home country,

COMPETENCIES
¿ Ability to write naturally and quickly as some deadlines are within same day.
¿ Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
¿ Creativity and taking initiatives.

Languages

¿ Fluency in spoken and written English.

Additional Information

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
¿ Previous experience with UNRWA, or other UN agency;
¿ Fluency in spoken and written Arabic;
¿ Previous experience working in the Middle East.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
¿ This job requires frequent field visits to locations where UNRWA operates in Jordan.
¿ This job may exceed working hours/weekends.
