The UNDP Belarus Communications Unit is hiring a Communications Intern to work under the supervision of the Communications Analyst. The Intern will assist in designing and implementing UNDP Belarus’ visibility products and outreach strategies, help raise awareness of UNDP’s work in Belarus among partners, beneficiaries, and the general public. The Intern will also support with the production of the 2024 UNDP Annual Review and facilitate communication innovations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and compilation of the 2024 Annual Review: data (texts and visuals) gathering, content drafting and maintaining documentation related to the production.
  • Support with content development for stories, thematic articles, press releases and social media posts.
  • Support the creation and design of visuals for corporate social and online platforms.
  • Support in preparing presentations, decks, pitches, toolkits, and processing documents.
  • Assist the Communications Analyst in organization, including logistical support of key events and occasions, such as conferences, forums, workshops, inter-agency events, discussions, meetings.
  • Help with organizing visibility and communication materials for thematic occasions including UN observances, Xmas, and New Year.
  • Assist with improving Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter visibility and outreach.
  • Conduct background research and analysis on topics relevant to communication on sustainable development.
Competencies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong Canva (or any other graphic design software) skills.
  • Skills in PR and communication content production (visuals, texts).
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Basic understanding of usability, optimizing content for the web and social media.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication and diplomacy skills, ability to work in a team.
  • Openness to change and ability to receive/integrate feedback.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and manage stressful situations.
Required Skills and Experience
Education:

Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

(a) Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);

(b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);

(c) Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

(d) Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.

Field of study: Communications, Media Studies, Development, International relations.

Experience:
  • Demonstrated interest in communication and public relations
  • Knowledge of promotion techniques through social media and online platforms.
  • Experience in digital communications is preferred.
  • Good analytical and drafting skills
  • Knowledge and a proficient user of Microsoft Office productivity tools

Language skills:

  • Strong spoken and written Russian and English is required.
  • Knowledge of Belarusian language is an asset.
