The Team

The Communications division helps advance the foundations priority funding and policy goals through high-quality content and effective engagement with target audiences. Builds and maintains a strong and favorable reputation for the foundation to ensure our license to operate.

Global Communications: The Global Communications team partners with the foundation to advance advocacy goals and build and maintain a strong favorable reputation by strategically leveraging diversified leadership voices through best-in-class internal and external communications and engagements.

The Employee Engagement & Communications team connects colleagues to the work and impact of the foundation, inspires trust, credibility, and pride in our mission by engaging a diversity of leadership voice, and cultivates the organization’s culture and reputation via the employee experience.

Your Role

As a key teammate within a strategic, responsive, respectful, equity-minded, and dynamic team, you will collaborate across all organizational divisions and roles. The ideal candidate is a strategic, creative, self-motivated communications professional who excels in a client-service approach within a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Employee Engagement & Communications, this role plays a vital part in connecting employees with relevant, engaging content that aligns with the organization’s shared priorities – creating impact on behalf of the Communications division and in close partnership with the Office of the CEO to drive foundation brand and reputation and ensure trust and credibility.

What You’ll Do

Focusing on content management, internal editorial planning, as well as all-foundation events, you will support the execution of the Employee Engagement & Communications strategy, working most closely within the Employee Engagement & Communications team and frequentlycollaboratingwith internal teams across the foundation to deliver communications initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and employee culture.

 

  • Supply to the development and execution of employee communications strategies, including those with a focus on manager enablement, change, and employee culture.
  • Handle logistics, scheduling, and communications for all-employee events, in coordination with Senior Communications Officers and relevant teams.
  • Responsible for developing a content management strategy, in partnership with the Deputy Director.
  • Supervise and lead teamcommunications tools, weekly processes, and content requests to ensure operational efficiency, including editorial planning, newsletter production, and knowledge management systems.
  • Lead and triage the centralized communications mailbox and employee content requests daily, routing, escalating, and ensuring timely follow-up as part of the team’s knowledge management systems.
  • Carry out high-quality interactions and clear communications with internal partners, modeling inclusive behaviors and advancing issues as appropriate.
  • Apply exceptional written communication skills to reduce complex information into simple messages – applying targeted, audience-appropriate communications tactics.
  • Excellent partner relations skills – working across internal teams to further improve information flow cross-foundation via key partners who represent their respective divisions’ communications needs.
  • Create written and visual content that meets the style of the audience and adheres to the foundation messaging framework for channels including Catalyst, Ampersand, and more.
  • Support efforts to promote and protect the foundation’s reputation, leadership voice, and advance program priorities.
  • Ensure alignment of communications strategies with broader organizational objectives.
  • Simplify messages and generate ideas that align with the communications strategy, translating sophisticated information for targeted audiences.
  • Collaborate optimally across teams and working styles, with a commitment to building strong internal relationships and promoting the organization’s DEI goals and cultural empathy.

 

Your Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Sophisticatedproject management experience in communications initiatives for diverse audiences, with the ability to influence across teams and lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using various communication tools and platforms, including Microsoft SharePoint, AirTable, and multimedia content creation tools, such as Canva.
  • Work independently, offering innovative solutions to sophisticated communications challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle contending demands in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and prioritization skills.
  • Proven effectiveness in driving complex multi-stakeholder projects and/or communications campaigns for internal audiences in highly matrixed, global organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service and administration-oriented positions or relationship management settings.

The salary range for this role is $149,800 to $224,600 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences in Seattle and Washington, D.C., where our U.S. offices are located. The range for this role in these locations is $149,800 to $224,600 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission. New hires salaries are typically between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
