World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Communications Specialist, Earth for Life.
The Communications Specialist plays an integral role to the communications function on the Earth for Life team, supporting internal and programmatic communications, and providing general communications support for the entire team. The Communications Specialist role is key to providing demand-driven communications support that aligns with long-term, large-scale area-based conservation priorities and showcasing the benefits these initiatives generate for communities, climate, and biodiversity.
• Facilitates, manages, and coordinates various communications projects and functions including maintaining the communications calendar, supporting the production of communications assets, and ensuring consistent messaging for key external and internal audiences.
• Creates internal communications strategies and develops and maintains platforms as needed in support of those strategies. Maintains a cohesive web presence for Earth for Life team’s work on internal and external WWF websites.
• Collaborates with WWF colleagues and external partners to create, distribute and manage communications products from inception through production and distribution of materials. Contributes to the creation and maintenance of a library of communications materials, including talking points, messaging documents, presentation decks, and reports.
• Promotes knowledge sharing and learning through various collaborative platforms to increase technical capacities via activities like resource and interest mapping, collecting and sharing best
practices, and strategic internal communications (e.g., webinar coordination, workshop design, learning materials production support etc.).
• Fulfills requests from Marketing and other departments to manage information, provide content reviews, and other tasks to facilitate communications objectives and assist other goal teams and functions within WWF.
• Performs other duties as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, international studies, or other relevant subject ideally related to conservation, plus a minimum of four years’ program or other professional experience in communications (or advanced degree with two or more years’ professional communications experience).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Spanish proficiency is preferred.
• Interest or experience in internal communications and knowledge management preferred.
• Knowledge of area-based conservation, Indigenous peoples and local communities, sustainable development, and sustainable finance issues is preferred.
• Solutions-oriented and proactive in creative critical thinking.
• Strong relational skills with a willingness to work both collaboratively and independently.
• Ability to set priorities, manage a multitude of details simultaneously, and collaborate effectively in a matrixed team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
