Over the last decade, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) has consolidated its role as a trusted advisor to Mexico’s federal and subnational governments, actively working shoulder-to-shoulder with key counterparts to establish a strong green growth foundation in the country. In 2014, the Mexican Senate ratified the Agreement for the Establishment of GGGI, which signals Mexico’s commitment to green growth and its recognition of the shared value of this development paradigm in cooperation with GGGI. In 2021, the Country Agreement between GGGI and Mexico was signed between the Mexican Foreign Affairs Secretariat and GGGI; hence, formally recognizing GGGI as one the country’s key partnering international intergovernmental organizations.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Mexico Communications Sr. Assistant, will:
- Drive the development and publication of quality program, projects, and knowledge products.
- Support GGGI’s visibility, brand identity, and knowledge sharing in the country, through the design of high-quality texts and storytelling interventions for multi-channel purposes, fulfilling the tasks of an institutional copywriter.
- Support with day-to-day administrative duties.
- Support the Mexico Country Representative plus country Management Team’s social and media presence (conferences, articles, media relations, among others), through the generation of high-profile texts, speeches, talking points, or related.
- Develop the work of a text editor in both languages, English and Spanish for all communications deliverables, to ensure high-quality standards in all written deliverables for the projects and compliance with the global GGGI’s institutional communication guidelines.
- Participate in the design of dissemination plans, campaigns, communications products, or collaborations with counterparts and donors.
- Support internal and external communications of the GGGI-Mexico program.
PURPOSE
The Mexico Communications Sr. Assistant plays a pivotal role, since she/he will be responsible for managing the proofreading of the Country Programme, including the generation of talking points, proofreading of documents, among others. Thanks to her/his exceptional written communication skills, she/he plays a critical role in delivering high-quality communication and knowledge products through drafting and proofreading texts, copy-outs, and by supervising that all editorial products, texts, and project documents meet quality standards in Spanish and English.
ENGAGEMENT
- Engage with GGGI global communication and knowledge-sharing team members to share, shape, and deliver effective and impactful communication and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Support the Communications & Knowledge Sharing (COMKS) focal point in the country, to engage with media colleagues to promote GGGI’s green growth solutions.
- Support the CR with day-to-day administrative duties i.e. calendar management, event, meeting preparations, and related.
- Engage with the Mexico team under the guidance of the CR and the communications team, for generating high-quality communication products as required, to reach deadlines in delivering those products.
DELIVERY
- Assist in managing the schedules of the Country Representative, as well as external official communications.
- Support the COMKS lead in the country to write web notes, write-ups, press releases. social media posts, blogs, GGGI monthly newsletter contributions, multimedia materials and website posts and ensuring consistent and effective messaging across all channels.
- Writing and proofreading of GGGI´s written internal and external communication products.
- Supporting the maintenance of GGGI Mexico website.
- Drafting official documents applying due protocol, ensuring their quality and timely delivery.
- Supporting the contact with the media, expanding the network of contacts, alliances, and participation in different channels of GGGI Mexico, when requested by COMKS focal point in the country.
REQUIREMENTS
- Undergraduate degree in Journalism, or related fields.
- Preferred at least 2-3 years prior experience in supporting a senior executive or team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- A detail-oriented self-starter with prior experience developing media articles, storytelling, and text proofreading.
- Resourceful, can-do attitude.
- Excellent written communication skills – without AI application – in Spanish and English
- Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office and active usage of various social media outlets.
- A keen interest and creativity in using innovative modern technologies to deliver messages.
- Strong communication, media engagement and diplomatic skills.
- Experience/knowledge of green growth and sustainable development is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The Mexico Communications Senior Assistant, is an X5 grade level in GGGI’s national salary scale. The salary range for the position starts at USD 20,874 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision. GGGI is committed to providing a work environment that is sufficiently flexible to accommodate diverse life-cycle challenges and assist Staff members to achieve a better balance between work and personal/family commitments, thus ensuring high performance, long-term productivity, and well-being of Staff members.
The chosen candidate is expected to be based in Mexico City, Mexico. This is a national position and does not include relocation benefits.

GGGI as an institution abides by its project-level Sustainability and Safeguards Rules (SSR) for all projects aligned with international standards for Environmental and Social Safeguards.
