I. MSF INTERNATIONAL
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters. MSF offers assistance to people based only on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. MSF International is the legal entity that binds MSF’s 24 sections, 25 associations and other offices together. Registered in Switzerland, MSF International provides coordination, information and support to the MSF Movement, as well as implements international projects and initiatives as requested.
II. POSITION BACKGROUND
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) produces medical guides for non-specialized staff in the field. The goal of the guidelines is to disseminate adapted medical knowledge that help to evaluate measles context situation and implementing a quality response rapidly that is evidence and experience based from implementing medical projects in over 71 countries for over 50 years.
International guides include 2 categories:
There are currently about 20 different guides, some of them are produced in several languages (English, French, Spanish, Arabic). The management of a Measles epidemic guideline is a public guideline, available in English and French language. The current version of the guideline was released in 2013. The vaccination working group has requested to update the guideline due key diagnosis, treatment and management updates in the last 10 years. The revision in 2023 if approved by MSF’s Medical directors’ platform.
III. PLACE IN THE ORGANISATION
The coordinator is hired by MSF international. He/she reports to IO officer (admin) and Vaccine working group leader (technical) and coordinates with the vaccination working group focal points and the focal points from other relevant technical working groups.
IV. OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION
The purpose of the position of the Coordinator Measles guideline is to develop a concept note that contains a detailed revision plan of the guideline and the required budget based on desk review and feedback gathered from all relevant stakeholders
