Under the overall guidance of the Head of Applied Climate Services (H/ACS) and the supervision of WMO Climate and Energy Project Officer.

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

1. Methodology revision: Refine the WMO high-resolution national renewable atlases methodology for National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) developed under the first phase of the project, with a focus on the hydropower atlas;

2. Co-production sessions and capacity development for seven WMO Members: Conduct introductory meetings followed by co-production sessions to assist seven selected WMO Members in developing and customizing their atlases (wind, solar, and hydropower) using updated guidelines and Jupyter Notebook open-source codes;

3. Online training package: Develop a 1-hour recorded training tutorial with English subtitles, covering the baseline package and additional personalized components for participating WMO Members, to be uploaded to the WMO Energy and Meteorology portal;

4. Regional webinar contributions: Participate in three WMO regional technical webinars organized by the WMO secretariat to present the methodology and online training, assisting with the dissemination of project results.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Advanced University Degree in meteorology, climatology, environmental sciences, or related discipline.
Experience
– Minimum relevant work experience of ten (10) years.

– Extensive Experience in climate data analysis and downscaling models.

– Proven knowledge in applying of weather and climate services for the energy sector, with a focus on renewable energy atlas.

– Previous work experience in the United Nations will be an advantage.

Other requirements
– Knowledge of WMO working arrangements and activities of the WMO Study Group on Renewable Energy Transition.

– Skill in producing training materials.

– Excellent oral and written communication skills.

– Proven analytical and writing skills.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.
