Under the supervision of the Chief of Staff

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

1. Research and Assessment
a. Conduct a thorough assessment of the current communication practices of Geo Indigenous Alliance.
b. Identify key stakeholders, including Indigenous communities, partners, and relevant organizations.
c. Analyze communication strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

2. Strategy Development
a. Define clear communication goals and objectives aligned with Geo Indigenous Alliance’s mission.
b. Develop a strategic framework for communication, including key messages and target audiences.
c. Determine communication channels (website, social media, newsletters, press releases, etc.).
d. Craft a content plan with themes, topics, and frequency.

3. Content Creation and Implementation
a. Generate high-quality content for various communication channels based on the content plan.
b. Develop visually appealing graphics, videos, and infographics to convey messages effectively.
c. Implement the content plan through scheduled posts, articles, press releases, and other formats.

4. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Adaptation
a. Monitor the reach, engagement, and impact of communication efforts.
b. Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of the strategy.
c. Adapt the strategy based on insights gained and feedback received.
d. Create a comprehensive final report with recommendations for continuous improvement.

5. Detailed report outlining engagement strategies for the geo community to support the Geo Indigenous Alliance’s goals.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
University level studies in the following fields
Communications, Journalism, Social Media, International Relations, and/or related fields. Additional qualification is related science subjects such as Earth Sciences, Geography, etc. are a bonus.
Experience
Experience producing visual and written content for online channels.
Experience planning and promoting International events with high-level representatives.
Other requirements
Knowledge and experience with GEO’s Engagement Priorities including the Sustainable Development Goals, Sendai Framework, Paris Agreement.
Good knowledge of social media and content marketing approaches.
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.
