The purpose of the consultancy is to provide guidance and technical support to DGM for the assessment of the sites for the installation of the weather radar, the development of technical specifications for the acquisition of a weather radar, the assessment of O&M costs for the weather radar and advise on after selling services to address O&M issues, and the provision of training to DGM staff in weather radar equipment and products.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
– November 2024: Inception report, with detailed methodology and plan;
– December 2024: Training materials;
– January 2025: Technical specifications for the acquisition of a weather radar, and a report with guidance for site selection.
QUALIFICATIONS | ||
Education Diploma in atmospheric sciences, meteorology, hydrology, environmental engineering or related field appropriate to the development of technical specifications for the acquisition of a weather radar. |

Experience Minimum 10 years’ experience and sound knowledge of weather radar network design, and technology, and data representation and exchange. |

Other requirements The consultant will provide a blend of in-country and remote technical support, including a minimum of a 2-week mission for on-site assistance for site selection and facilitation of training sessions. |

Languages Excellent knowledge of English and French (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage. (Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.) |
