The Systematic Observations Financing Facility (SOFF) was legally created by WMO, UNDP and UNEP as a UN a Multi-Partner Trust Fund in December 2021. Within few years of operations SOFF is delivering at speed and scale and requires additional support to ensure effective communication of country stories showcasing SOFF successful implementation.
Under the supervision of the Associate Advocacy and Communication Officer,the consultant will work closely with the SOFF Secretariat team; particularly to develop and manage communication products as well as use storytelling for creative reporting of results.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Manage the update of the SOFF Support Statement Video, including drafting a concept, coordinating content contributors, being point of contact for contractors, incorporating feedback from partners and the SOFF Secretariat, under the guidance of the SOFF Associate Advocacy and Communications Officer and delivering ahead of the 11th SOFF Steering Committee in May 2025.
– Support updating the SOFF website and manage content, particularly creating new content on the SOFF Impact Bond.
– Draft social media posts for each story, events, external reports SOFF contributed to, key messages from critical reports and the SOFF Impact Bond to support external communications.
– Provide support to the SOFF Secretariat regarding event management, such as drafting concepts, speakers biographies, briefings, run of shows and related external communications as required, particularly for the announcement of the SOFF Impact Bond at COP30.
– Supports the project management of the SOFF Action Report 2025, including drafting an outline, coordinating content contributors, being point of contact for contractors, incorporating feedback from partners and the SOFF Secretariat, under the guidance of the SOFF Associate Advocacy and Communications Officer and delivering ahead of COP30.
– Deliver 7 web stories selected by the SOFF Secretariat: Conduct interviews with contacts provided by the SOFF Secretariat, manage feedback loops with partners and the SOFF Secretariat, and provide visuals (photos, videos or info graphs) where appropriate. One story to be published per month on the SOFF website.
– Perform other duties related to SOFF communication needs, in particular related to the SOFF Impact Bond, as required.

| QUALIFICATIONS | ||
| Education Bachelor’s degree or similar education in international relations, public relations or communication required. Focus on climate change, climate finance, humanitarian action and related topics an advantage. |

| Experience Proven working experience in external communications required. Experience in managing projects and events required. Social media experience desired. |

| Other requirements Experience drafting case studies through story telling in international context required. Knowledge about climate change, early warning systems, international finance or meteorology desired. Website content editing skills desired. Experience in managing video production an asset. |

| Languages Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written) is required. French or Spanish an asset. (Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.) |
