Consultancy to Support Various Impact Assessment Studies

JOB DETAIL

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is looking for a qualified and experienced consultant to support a team working on various impact assessment studies. The consultancy will involve processing and analyzing secondary data, supporting the preparation of various knowledge products. The consultant will work closely with IFPRI staff based in Washington, DC, Rome, and Kenya. The consultant is also expected to liaise with and provide support to study collaborators in project countries and attend essential meetings. The full-time consultancy will run between July – December 2023.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Conduct data processing and analysis
  • Prepare and draft various knowledge products (e.g., reports, journal articles, policy notes, slide decks)
  • Assist with communication activities
  • Liaise with various researchers within the CGIAR

OUTPUTS

  • Datasets of processed variables, duly labeled and cleansed
  • Production of statistics in tabular and graphical forms
  • Survey reports, slide decks, policy briefs, and manuscripts

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • At least Master’s Degree in international development, development economics, agricultural and applied economics or a very closely related field. PhD preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Stata software, good econometric skills, and proven familiarity with data production and collection processes
  • At least three years of experience in analyzing complex household-level micro data, preferably related to agriculture and nutrition
  • Familiarity with impact evaluation literature and experience in conducting impact assessments
  • Capacity of delivering good quality products and services on time under tight deadlines and pressure
  • Capacity of working independently, particularly in producing research outputs
  • Due attention to details, and efficiency in delivering the agreed output
  • Strong writing skills and capacity to analyze complex phenomena and publish findings in various forms
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in effective interactions and negotiations in a multi-cultural environment setting with researchers
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of applied econometric methods for social science, especially for impact evaluation
  • Familiarity with literature on resilience to climatic risks, digital innovation, and gender
  • Knowledge of French
  • Household survey knowledge and experience in Africa south of the Sahara
