Position Title: Basic Education and/or Youth Expert

Duration: Approximately 90 days Location: Washington, DC area or Remote, within the United States

Department: Human Rights, Education, and Empowerment (HREE)

Reports to: Director, Child Labor, Education & Youth

SCOPE OF WORK

Scope Overview:

This consulting position will support Winrock’s education and youth portfolio for a period of approximately 3 months, providing support to the division’s leadership related to strategy development, inputs into business development efforts and expertise for discreet research or other tasks. They will work with the Director of the unit to expand efforts in the areas of education, youth and child labor and participate in active proposals and longer-term capture efforts. They will also significantly contribute to the refinement of existing program tools used for participatory community development.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide perspective and expertise on emerging issues and trends in basic education, youth development and other identified sub-sectors. Adapt current relevant program methodologies, approaches, and tools, as assigned, to align with emerging trends and respond to emerging issues in the education and youth sectors Support refinement of existing promotional materials (website pages, one-pagers, and capacity statements) Identify and recommend strategies related to business decisions for leadership. Participate in proposal preparation and work closely with Director and Associate Director for New Business to support development of quality education and/or youth focused proposals. Conduct a review of submitted proposals and donor feedback, providing recommendations for new business future efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Master’s degree in international development, education, or relevant field preferred. Experience: 10+ years of experience in international development focused on education and youth development, project design and implementation, new business development, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning, particularly for USAID and other international donor-funded projects. At least five years of experience providing technical support services in education and/or youth on development projects, and proposal program design. At least five years of experience of demonstrated experience contributing to business development efforts Position-Specific Skills: Experience leading or writing donor applications/proposals. Direct experience developing and designing education and/or youth projects or activities. Project implementation experience is a plus International field experience required. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). Must have a strong attention to detail. Exceptional communication skills (oral and written). English required. Foreign language capabilities preferred. Ability to travel as needed.
