Role Overview Summary

The purpose of this consultancy call is to conduct a comprehensive evaluative assessment to determine outcomes of integrating health and livelihoods programming especially for smallholder farmers, women and youths in these marginalized areas. This study will give a clear indication on the value addition and impact of integrating health in a resilient livelihoods project. This exercise will help to indicate clear results of the integration, and key learning areas. The consultant is expected to identify partnership and funding opportunities that exist for VSO to achieve VSO health strategy in line with the country health strategic plans and global health goals.[AS1] Issues of climate resilience, gender inclusion, and the broader social context of marginalized communities should be considered in the integration of health and livelihoods. The evaluation will explore how well these issues have been addressed and recommend on how to improve programming around climate resilient health for greater impact around integrated approaches.

Objectives of the research consultancy:

1. Document the key strategies used to integrate health into resilient livelihoods and assess their impact on health outcomes among smallholder farmers and their communities.

2. Document the outcomes (value addition and impact) of integrating health in a resilient livelihood project in Zimbabwe.

3. Evaluate the contribution of Volunteering for Development (VfD) approach to the observed results and the role of youths as active citizens.
