WRI Operations team supports the crucial front-line work of the organization, they directly interact and work with Donors, Partners, Government agencies, Statutory bodies, Trustees, Vendors, and Consultants in fielding their inquiries, providing support at all the fronts and solving problems. So that the WRI programs can be implemented without any hurdles and the program staff and researchers can develop high quality research documents, plans and implement the programs at the field level.

WRI Operations team strive for operational excellence across all functions starting with the recruitment, retention and management of WRI’s staff, our most important asset. We manage our endowment, the contributions entrusted to us, and our facilities in ways that are in line with our values and advance our mission. We maintain strict budgetary planning and financial controls to ensure that all contributions are managed in compliance with donors’ wishes.


Job Highlight:

As the HR & Talent Acquisition Coordinator for WRI Africa, you will play an integral role in providing support to our Global Talent Acquisition team and our staff located throughout the region. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the hire of talent for WRI with employees who will make a measurable difference in our organization and the environment. You will support the HR activities and recruitment of all new hires mainly for our offices in Africa.

You are an independent thinker who can help solve complex problems and advise on internal processes. You are a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and professional experience in recruitment and HR administrative roles. You have the ability to collaborate across a global network and manage remote relationships. You will report directly to the HR Manager for WRI Africa.


What will you do:

Recruitment (50%):

  • Review incoming applications and conduct initial virtual or phone interviews with shortlisted candidates.
  • Lead the internship recruitment for the region.
  • Act as a Talent partner to hiring managers – guiding and answering their questions throughout the process.
  • Coordinate on-site and remote interviews between candidates and team members across multiple locations, in-person or virtual, which may include booking interview spaces, tracking hiring team participation, communicating schedule details with candidates, and providing required documentation.
  • Support with the preparation of interview questions for the (panel) interviews.
  • Complete reference checks and administer work sample exercises to candidates.
  • Answer candidates’ questions and ensure candidates and hiring managers have all the necessary support during the recruitment process.
  • Ensure all candidates receive feedback on the status of their application in a timely manner.
  • Carry out active headhunting activities on LinkedIn for senior and hard to fill positions

HR Support (30%):

  • Support the development and communication of HR policies to both anglophone and francophone employees while providing guidance and support with respect to all areas of HR, helping to ensure reliable access to up-to-date, relevant information and build cohesion between office locations.
  • Support in administration, such as leave management, maintenance of staff records, compensation
  • Support in maintaining official staff personnel files and update HRIS.
  • Support in contract management such as generating employment contracts, contract extensions, offer letters and promotions letters.
  • Provide additional support as per the request of your line manager.

Employee Relations (20%):

  • Facilitate a healthy employee relations environment by providing timely and accurate responses to employment related queries
  • Provide guidance and assist in employee relations issues and concerns, including termination and off-boarding processes
  • Support relocation, immigration and other responsibilities related to staffing administration, including visa application processes


What will you need:

  • Education: A completed bachelor’s degree in HR, business or non-profit management, public administration, or related field with HR qualification at a diploma level or a professional HR qualification
  • Experience: You have 3+ years of relevant professional experience working in a similar position with focus on recruitment , Human Resources administrative roles, ideally within an international non-profit matrixed organization
  • Experience in the development of HR related new systems and policies to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Experience in HRIS systems preferably ADP
  • Familiarity with labor laws of countries within the region
  • Ability to handle confidential information discretely
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working with proprietary software applications
  • Languages: You are proficient in written and spoken English and French
  • Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position will be based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization


Potential Salary:
Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors. WRI offers a competitive remuneration and benefits package.
