Organizational Setting
The Director General’s Office (DGO) provides leadership and coordination for all IAEA activities at the executive level for meeting Member States’ needs, and achieving a one-house approach and a results-based management.
The Office for Public Information and Communication provides objective, accurate and timely information about the IAEA and nuclear developments that fosters public understanding of the IAEA’s global roles. It also provides advice to the Director General on relations with the media and organizes press briefings. The Office coordinates the communication activities for the rest of the house and assists in the media aspects of major IAEA events and conferences.
The Media, Multimedia and Public Outreach Section has corporate responsibility for relations with the media and the public, as well as for producing audio and video materials to promote the IAEA’s activities.
Main Purpose
Under the supervision of the Head of the Media, Multimedia and Public Outreach Section, and in close cooperation with the Multimedia Officer and the Associate Multimedia Officers as well as other relevant staff in OPIC, the Motion Graphics Consultant will design and deliver visually compelling, informative and innovative graphics and animations for use in OPIC videos and on social media.
Functions / Key Results Expected
The Motion Graphics Consultant is:
(i) a motion graphics expert who uses Adobe After Effects and other programmes to create visually strong and clear graphics for short documentary films
(ii) A digital story-teller who uses motion graphics and animations to visualise complex scientific concepts to explain them to a lay audience
(iii) a video editor and post-production specialist
(iv) a creator of attractive and engaging digital assets for films and social media (images, gifs, motion graphics, infographics, slides, etc)
• create short animations or animated infographics for inclusion in agency documentaries that make the content more visually engaging or clarify complex concepts (to be shown on social media, the web and at conferences – see www.iaea.org for examples);
• support other multimedia staff with video administrative tasks, such as cataloguing new and existing footage and archiving it correctly;
• continuously identify and propose new technical innovations and solutions.

Qualifications and Experience
- University degree (bachelor’s degree) in multimedia production/video production/design or a related field. A degree in Digital Media Arts and Animation would be an asset.
- Minimum two years of relevant working experience in 2D animation.
- 3D animation experience is an asset.
- Filming experience is an asset.
- Expert in Adobe After Effects and Cinema 4D/Blender or similar programmes.
- Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
Remuneration
The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 260, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent. |
