Organizational Setting

The Director General’s Office (DGO) provides leadership and coordination for all IAEA activities at the executive level for meeting Member States’ needs, and achieving a one-house approach and a results-based management.
The Office for Public Information and Communication provides objective, accurate and timely information about the IAEA and nuclear developments that fosters public understanding of the IAEA’s global roles. It also provides advice to the Director General on relations with the media and organizes press briefings. The Office coordinates the communication activities for the rest of the house and assists in the media aspects of major IAEA events and conferences.
The Media, Multimedia and Public Outreach Section has corporate responsibility for relations with the media and the public, as well as for producing audio and video materials to promote the IAEA’s activities.

Main Purpose

The IAEA’s Multimedia Unit supports the Director General’s efforts to raise awareness of IAEA work in support of peace and development around the world, by providing regular live press conferences and video messages as well as by creating engaging multimedia content for online outreach purposes.

In the run up to major climate-related events, the Agency is advocating the use of nuclear technologies for climate change mitigation and adaptation. We would like to hire a multimedia content creator with design, motion graphics and video editing and production skills, to create a range of multimedia products for promotion online.

A main focus of this role would be to work with the Multimedia Producer to explore ways to use existing IAEA footage and animations to create new short videos for distribution on social media to engage key audiences in the climate debate. In addition, the Multimedia Assistant would support the Brand and Campaign Manager in the development of digital assets for the IAEA’s main climate campaign. As well as working on climate products, the multimedia assistant would support other multimedia priorities and provide surge capacity for the multimedia team.

Functions / Key Results Expected

• Assess the IAEA’s current multimedia outreach around climate change and provide suggestions for improving audience engagement
• Create videos and other multimedia products to promote nuclear techniques for climate change mitigation and adaptation
• Create attractive and engaging digital assets (images, gifs, motion graphics, infographics, slides, etc) for web pages and other digital outreach products in the lead up and during major events
• Support the ongoing development of the IAEA’s climate campaign
• Provide guidance to inhouse designers and web editors on climate-related branding and visual identities for posters, e-banners etc, including creating mock-ups where needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in multimedia production/video production/design is an asset but not a must.
  • Relevant experience in multimedia production, storytelling and campaign production.
  • A range of technical multimedia skills.
  • Considerable experience in Adobe Premiere and After Effects and Photoshop.
  • Experience with Illustrator or other design software. Experience working in a studio setting and/or dealing with social media livestreams and broadcast interviews an asset.
  • An interest in and understanding of climate change issues, major players and the state of the current debate.
  • If available please include a portfolio (examples of your best multimedia work) to your application.
  • Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset

Remuneration

The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 250, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
