Organizational Setting

The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA’s Major Programme 2, “Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection”. This Major Programme comprises individual programmes on food and agriculture, human health, water resources, environment and radiation technologies. These programmes are supported by laboratories in Seibersdorf, Monaco and Vienna. The Major Programme’s objective is to enhance the capacity of Member States to meet basic human needs and to assess and manage the marine and terrestrial environments through the use of nuclear and isotopic techniques in sustainable development programmes.

Main Purpose

The Partnerships Consultant works in the Deputy Director General’s Office (DDGO) and will report directly to the departmental Programme and Partnership Officer, whose function is to support the streamlining of activities related to developing partnerships, identifying opportunities for partnering with national partners, private sector, multilateral development banks (MDBs), international organizations and UN Agencies. The Partnerships Consultant will provide technical expertise and input to the development of resource mobilization plans and targets and their monitoring on identified departmental strategic/high-profile projects.

The Partnerships Consultant works closely with other staff members of DDGO-NA and will also collaborate with other programme-related positions within NA, as well as in other departments and donors, as needed.

Functions / Key Results Expected

• Researching and identifying potential funding opportunities and analysing donors’ calls for proposals.
• Preparing extrabudgetary project proposals tailored to donors’ requirements.
• Coordinating the writing, editing, and approving letters of intent, concept notes, and fundraising project proposals for submission, including compilation of all required documentation and ensuring quality control.
• Adhering to donor grant requirements and reporting preferences.
• Identifying best practices and lessons learned directly linked to resource mobilization and partnership-building activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s Degree/Master of Science Degree – Economics, Social Science, International Relations or other relevant field.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in the area of resource mobilisation and development cooperation, preferably including familiarity with the UN system and knowledge of development partners and donor agencies.

Remuneration

The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 200, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
