Duties and Responsibilities
1. Technical Guidance and Mentorship:
• Offer expert technical guidance and mentorship to ITSC teams, comprising developers, software engineers, and other technical personnel.
• Facilitate regular one-on-one or group mentoring sessions to address technical challenges, provide insights, and foster skill development.
2. Capacity Building:
• Identify skill gaps and training needs within the technical teams and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to design and deliver targeted training programs.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning and knowledge-sharing among team members to enhance technical proficiency.
3. Best Practices and Innovation:
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to IT service delivery.
• Advocate for the adoption of innovative solutions and methodologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of ITSC operations.
4. Project Support:
• Provide technical oversight and guidance during the planning, development, and implementation of IT projects.
• Assist in defining technical requirements, architecture, and design for complex IT initiatives.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate with other ITSC stakeholders, UNRWA departments, and external partners to ensure seamless integration and alignment of technical efforts.
• Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
6. Performance Evaluation:
• Regularly assess the performance and progress of the technical teams, offering constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.
• Contribute to the establishment of performance metrics and KPIs for the technical teams.
7. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
Academic Qualifications:
A university degree or master’s degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, or other related disciplines.
Experience:
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in a technical role, with at least 2 years in a leadership or mentorship role.
• Demonstrated expertise in a wide range of technical areas, such as software development, system administration, DevOps, cloud computing, etc.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop technical talent, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Experience working in multicultural and diverse environments is highly desirable.
CCOMPETENCIES
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Planning and organizing
• Team spirit and leadership, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Language:
• Very good command of spoken and written English.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience or knowledge of ASP.Net Core, ASP.net MVC, Azure Cloud Services, object-oriented analysis and design, and Low Code Platforms
• Experience in identifying and leveraging opportunities to integrate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, into ITSC projects to enhance operational efficiency and achieve greater impact.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
• The duration of the consultancy is 6 to 11 months, extendable based on performance and fund availability.
• Remuneration for this consultancy is 1,705.00 $, and it will depend on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
• The consultant will be based in Gaza.

UNRWA has established the IT Service Center (ITSC) to provide intelligent and efficient IT solutions to UNRWA and other UN Organizations. The ITSC aims to empower the digital generation of Palestine refugees and to transform the lives of young professionals by building resilience and self-reliance through digital Impact.
The ITSC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Mentor who will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting various technical teams. The Senior Technical Mentor will be responsible for providing specialized mentorship and technical expertise to enhance the performance and capabilities of the ITSC teams, contributing to their professional growth and the achievement of the center’s objectives.
Moreover, the consultant will support ITSC team in various digital transformation initiatives, these initiatives are designed to leverage cutting-edge technology and innovative approaches to enhance the delivery of IT services and foster sustainable development in the digital landscape.
The consultant will report to the Head, IT Service Centre in the Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD), at Headquarter Gaza.
