Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Cybercrime Programme Officer, the consultant will perform the following tasks: 1) Carry out database tasks of uploading, downloading, editing and sanitizing documents in the SHERLOC database feeding into the Cybercrime Repository and the case law and legislation databases of SHERLOC; 2) Carry out legal research and analysis with a multi-disciplinary view on cybercrime issues; and 3) Support the implementation of the activities of the Global Programme on Cybercrime backstopped at Headquarters.
Qualifications/special skills
• An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in criminal justice, criminology or law is required. A first-level university degree in the aforementioned fields in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. • A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the area of legal research or analysis is required; • Work experience with databases, content management or knowledge network development is desirable; • Work experience in relation to criminal phenomena misusing the Internet and Communications Technologies is desirable; • Previous work experience with an international organization is desirable.
Languages
• English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Fluency in another official United Nations language is an advantage.
