Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and create manual and automated test framework for web and mobile applications
• Address concerns regarding software quality
• Review and analyze system specifications
• Execute manual and automated test scripts
• Improve testing process by assessing test needs and adopting new methods
• Report defects, bugs, and errors to developers as an integral member of the software development team
• Conduct Exploratory Testing, Usability and Accessibility testing.
• Prepare test plans that covers functional, and non-functional requirements
• Report and Document test results in a defect report
• Preparation of process documents, technical documentation, and SoPs.
• Test all changes by using the appropriate complex test scenarios to ensure all delivered solutions work as expected and errors are handling in a meaningful way.
• Author and maintain documentation by writing audience-appropriate materials to serve as technical and/or end-user references.
• Provide support by investigating and resolving issues, including complex issues to ensure prompt, effective service.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications:

A university degree or master’s degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, Business Administration, Management, or other related disciplines;

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience for a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years for a master’s degree in software development, Software Quality Assurance or any related field.

The resource MUST have the following skills and experience:
• Excellent knowledge of application test planning
• Automation, and the related technical architecture
• Experience with relevant testing tools such as Selenium, Katalon, Appium, Relic, JMeter. etc…
• Good experience and sound understanding of Application testing lifecycle, processes and tools.
• Good understanding of quality assurance fundamentals and technologies pertinent to creating business solutions (software testing, support, applications, databases, integration)
• Technologically savvy, demonstrating the ability to easily adapt to new and unfamiliar technologies, software, and systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail.
• Exemplary customer service skills
• Demonstrable critical thinking and problem solving
• Ability to thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving, and constantly evolving high growth environment

The resource SHOULD have the following skills and experience:
• Experience developing integrations
• Experience working with various CI/CD tools
• Agile or SCRUM Project participation experience
• Experience with Appium, Jira, Bitbucket
• At least 4+ years of experience in Information Technology and Business Applications
• Knowledge of Agile, DevOps and familiarity with ITIL processes

Contract Conditions:

• The duration of the consultancy is 6 to 11 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds.
• Remuneration for this consultancy will be 1600.00 USD, depending on the fund availability, qualifications, and relevant experience.
• The incumbent can be in any UNRWA field of operations (Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, or West Bank).

UNRWA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC) to enhance livelihood and human development opportunities for Palestine refugees in Gaza.

United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC) is a UN agency that provides IT services to other UN agencies on a cost-recovery basis.

UNRWA Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD) is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer with an in-depth experience in test automation. The resource will collaborate with developers and project managers to ensure the development of high-quality software. Familiar with testing and Continuous Integration tools for the implementation, and support of automated and manual application testing processes for on-going projects. Responsible for testing medium to large sized complex projects; strong technical skills; good analytical skills; strong ability to understand complex business processes.

The consultant will report administratively to the Head Information Technology Service Centre at Headquarters Gaza and report technically to United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC).
