Under the overall authority and direct supervision of Director of UNESCO San José Office, the incumbent will coordinate and implement the communication efforts of the UNESCO Office in San Jose, in order to significantly enhance UNESCO´s visibility in the five countries under the office´s responsibility.
ASSIGNMENTS AND DELIVERABLES
The UNESCO Office in San Jose, Costa Rica, supports governments and other stakeholders in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama in all areas of UNESCO’s mandate. As a regional multisectorial office, it also coordinates with the national offices in Guatemala and Mexico. The office has recently enhanced its communication efforts. A consultancy is sought that continues and further strengthens the office’s communication efforts.
The purpose of the consultancy is to strategize, coordinate and implement the communication efforts of the UNESCO Office in San Jose, in order to significantly enhance UNESCO’s visibility in the five countries under the office’s responsibility.
Assignments and deliverables
Access to relevant content can often be provided by programme specialists, but it is the consultant’s responsibility to actively seek out this content and develop it further. Additional desk research will also be required.
All work is to be carried out in line with UNESCO communication and visibility policies and guidelines, the UNESCO style sheet and other relevant reference material.
As a general rule, all products except internal documents must be prepared in Spanish and English.
As for visuals, graphs, photos and other design elements, and for ensuring a coherent visual identity for all products of the office, the task will be to work with the visuals consultant. The communication consultant and the visuals consultant will work as one coherent communications team.
The contract is initially until the end of the year. Upon satisfactory performance and subject to the availability of funds, a contract extension may be possible.
Previous experience with UNESCO or other UN Agency.
