Mission and objectives
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. Volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges, and it can transform the pace and nature of development. Volunteerism benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer by strengthening trust, solidarity and reciprocity among citizens, and by purposefully creating opportunities for participation. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for recognition of volunteers, working with partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing an increasing number and diversity of volunteers, including experienced UN Volunteers, throughout the world. UNV embraces volunteerism as universal and inclusive, and recognizes volunteerism in its diversity as well as the values that sustain it: free will, commitment, engagement and solidarity.
Context
Volunteer Advisory Service Section of UNV is conducting a comprehensive content audit on the knowledge portal on volunteerism with an aim of conducting quality assurance as well as improving and providing relevant and up to date content for the users of the portal. At the end of the assignment, the online volunteers will be rewarded with a certificate and will gain better understanding on the contribution of volunteerism to the SDGs. We are looking for Online Volunteers with strong interest in volunteerism and expertise in content auditing or information systems auditing on websites or data portals/systems.
Task Description
The Online Volunteers will: • Compile a comprehensive list of all content on the knowledge portal on volunteerism organizing it into categories based on type, date published on the portal etc. • Evaluate how each content is performing by utilizing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to gather quantitative data on user interactions. • Assess the overall quality of the content in terms of accuracy, depth, clarity, and alignment with current KP objectives. • Review relevance of each content to the target audience’s needs and ensure it answers their questions or addresses the main points. • Identify gaps in the existing content where new topics or updates are needed to meet KP audience demands. • Verify and ensure an up to date list of stakeholders that can be used for selective dissemination. • Based on the findings from the audit, provide actionable recommendations for each piece of content—whether to keep it as is, update it, consolidate it with other pieces, or remove it entirely- Create a summary report that outlines specific actions for each content item along with justification based on performance metrics. The task will be split among 7 selected online volunteers. Further guidance on the above tasks and workflow will be provided at the beginning of and during the assignment through call via Zoom/Microsoft Teams and emails, as needed.
