JOB DETAIL

Context

Under the direct supervision of the DTM Project Officer and under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, the Data Analysis Assistant will be responsible of the following activities:

  1. Review the quality of collected data and support with data cleaning and preparation.
  2. Support the design and preparation for surveys and assessment tools.
  3. Conduct data analysis to prepare summary statistical reports.
  4. Prepare data visualizations and graphics for reporting.
  5. Prepare and maintain DTM dashboards as needed.
  6. Follow-up on relevant data collection activities with field colleagues on a regular basis.
  7. Conduct field surveys to collect data on displaced populations, returnees, and other relevant groups.
  8. Generate reminders to the DTM field team on data collection targets.
  9. Draft scripts and program to collect and organize online data.
  10. Support other DTM and research activities in data collection and programme implementation as needed.
  11. Support review and revisions of DTM and research methodologies and questionnaires through liaison with field teams.
  12. Recommend new data and research initiatives.
  13. Assist in facilitating DTM and research training for enumerators and provide support and training sessions focused on DTM data.
  14. Apply IOM’s Data Protection Principles consistently in all activities.
  15. Perform such any other such duties as might be assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Data Sciences, Data Analysis, Statistics, Economics or another field related to DTM work with at least three years of relevant professional experience, or
  • High School diploma with five years of relevant experience.

Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization;
  • Experience in data/information management and statistical analysis.;
  • Knowledge of statistical tools such as R, SPSS, Excel advanced, Python
  • Ability to verify, clean and process data;
  • Good knowledge of the geography of Burundi;
  • Familiarity with mobile data collection technologies and GPS is an advantage.

Skills

  • Experience in data/information management and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to verify, clean and process data;
  • Computer knowledge use including MS Office and ability to use internet and email;
  • Knowledge of Kobo toolbox applications and use of PDAs;
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite;
  • Knowledge of GIS tools such as QGIS, ARCGIS;
  • Knowledge of statistical tools such as R, SPSS, Excel advance.

Languages 

For all applicants, fluency in French and Kirundi is required (oral and written).
