Duties and Responsibilities
The duration of the internship is for six (6) months. This internship is UNPAID in person and full-time (35 hours per week) and it will be undertaken in a hybrid working arrangement at the UN Premise, New York, United States The intern will work with the Design, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (DMEL) team of the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) to support initiatives for Monitoring & Evaluation, generation of global data on PBF results and programmatic overview for the Fund as a whole. I. Evaluation -Ensure timely recording of the project evaluations uploaded to the MPTF Gateway webpage and/or received by email, to the internal PBF evaluation tracker and dissemination of those evaluations to the PBF website. -Support the regular tracking of overdue project evaluations. -Support the Portfolio evaluations, notably with the data & documents collection for the inception phase and the consolidation of the Reference Groups comments to the deliverables. -Prepare summaries and social media contents about the key finding of the evaluations. -Support the organization of the evaluation validation meetings and brown bags sessions -Extract results from PBF project and portfolio evaluations to populate Microsoft Lists database. Reporting Manually add new PBF project results’ blurbs from various sources such as past annual SG Reports on PBF, assigning relevant themes, to the Microsoft Lists database, to be used for requests for PBF project examples Prepare communications about the Secretary General report on Peacebuilding II. Support Audit filling processes Support the tracking of the NUNO audit reports and keep folders up to date Support the preparation of any documents for audit III. PBF M&E Peer Support Group -Support the meeting preparation (Invitation, presentations, alignment between the English/ French and Spanish versions) -Support the development and regular updates of a repository of M&E tools and good practices from the Peacebuilding M&E practitioners. -Ensure regular updates of the communication lists (email and WhatsApp) IV. Dashboard Peacebuilding Priorities and SDGs coding. Specific responsibilities include: Support the implementation of the new coding method by the project teams. Support the projects teams with learning sessions/training for PBF HQ staff V. Assist the PBF DMEL team with other emerging tasks.
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: 1. Applicants at the time of application must be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). 2. The field of study must be closely related to the type of internship you are applying for. Knowledge of Peacebuilding or related field is an advantage 3. Proficient in standard word processing and software applications such as Microsoft Word, PPT, Excel and PowerPoint or similar. 4. Writing and communication skills, notably for social media. 5. Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter. 6. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Applicants to the United Nations Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
