The Data Coordinator reports to Senior Humanitarian Principles Coordinator.

Responsibilities

Designs, develops and manages centralized databases, data collection tools, dashboards and other data tools for humanitarian principles related data, including integrated assessment data, and other Protection Division data where relevant.

Ensures the quality of data collected on humanitarian principles and protection, including its accuracy, consistency, and comparability; consolidates operational information regularly to support analysis.

Oversees dashboard content, providing overall quality control and ensuring content is current and comprehensive.

Produces and updates high-quality map products, and, collaborates with the graphic designer and humanitarian principles team, to transform data into visual information products like reports, charts, and infographics that effectively communicate key messages.

Provides training and expertise on the utilization and development of tools and dashboards, collaborating with the humanitarian principles training team, as necessary.

Establishes and maintains coordination with the Information Management and Technology Department and other relevant Departments; engages with counterparts to ensure that data is coordinated and consistent with Agency standards and practices; supports the formulation of procedures and Standard Operating Procedures/guidance to ensure standard implementation
across Departments and Fields.

Oversees the work of the data coordination team, ensuring effective support from humanitarian principles data coordinators for the humanitarian principles and protection file. provides assistance to the efforts of data support officers at the field level.

Education

An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in data science, computer science, statistics, information technology, or a related field.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of relevant experience in data management, data analysis,
information technology, data collection, administration, or related field is required.

Unless already serving as an international staff member in the UN Common System, two continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA, and outside the country(s) of which the candidate is a national or holds citizenship, a passport or a national
identity number is required.

Familiarity with the Middle East context is desirable.

Experience in managing data in a humanitarian setting is desirable.

Arabic language skills is desirable.

Languages

Excellent command of spoken and written English is required.
Arabic language skills is desirable.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Special Notice

Type of Contract and duration: Temporary Job Opening for 364 days, with the possibility of further extension subject to availability of funds, need and performance.
