icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. icddrb as a values-based organization encourages women and people with disabilities.

The primary objective of the project which is under Programme for Emerging Infection is to strengthen Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS) activities across different implementing sites with full HDSS implementations using sampling strategies. which will be continue at least 3 years. In addition, the project will provide technical assistance to other sites such as data collection, data quality, meeting operations, scientific and informatics competencies, and ongoing methodological support for HDSS activities.

The Data Management Officer will report to the Data Manager. She/he will be responsible to Design and manage database in SQL Server and Sqlite, develop data codebooks, check data inconsistency, data cleaning, providing data for analysis, preventing data loss, prepare graphs/slides and supervise data entry within the guidelines, policy and procedure and organizational values.

Key Responsibilities:

The Data Management Officer will be mainly responsible for following duties and responsibilities:

• Design Database using SQL Server and Sqlite according to study protocol;
• Analyze data by STATA/SPSS and tabulations of the study results from STATA / SPSS outputs;
• Develop data codebooks according to study tools;
• Prepare graphs/slides for reports and presentations;
• Check the data for errors, data inconsistency and Clean data in consultation with field staff;
• Prepare user guide and training manual for different database applications.
• Backup database regularly on External HDD;
• Create database views and write queries as per direction and requirement of DM/RIs/PIs;
• Analyze various security policies and develop roles and permissions, maintenance of database security, confidentiality.
• Identify various internal or external security threats of Database Application;
• Arrange training to develop skills of concerned staff members on data management systems;
• Provide continuous support for user queries for the field staffs;
• Maintain and update list of data files and research documents of both hard and soft copies;
• Check internal and external validity of data and ensure data completeness and correctness.

Required qualification and experience:

• Masters’ degree in Statistics/ Applied Statistics or Bachelor degree in CSE/ ICE/ ICT/ SE
• Able to handle large volume of data
• 3 years of experience in research data management.
• Good knowledge in SQL Server, SQLite and STATA
• Knowledge of Python / C# and proficiency in any JavaScript framework would be an added advantage

Location: Mohakhali Campus, Dhaka

Contract Type and duration:

• Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 6 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk.57,048/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
