What we are looking for
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a highly qualified Data Solutions Lead with relevant experience in the role of data management, information management, product management, or similar.
What you will do
Some of your specific responsibilities include:
- Collect, clean, and pre-process raw data from various sources, such as databases, APIs, or data files and propose concrete recommendations for structural data quality improvements.
- Build predictive models and algorithms to identify patterns and trends and prototype the ability to make accurate predictions or forecasts.
- Experiment and deploy machine learning models into production systems or platforms to improve value to NRC.
- Optimize new and existing data models for scalability, efficiency, and accuracy and monitor model performance and make necessary adjustments or updates.
- Lead on the vision of the roadmap of the NRC data repository and data hub and drive adoption across system users.
- Analyse and interpret complex datasets using statistical techniques and analytical tools and identify patterns, trends, and relationships in data and generate actionable insights.
- Oversee the implementation of data infrastructure and technology platforms, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Support field operations teams with data processing and analysis requests to help improve data workflows.

What you will bring
- Ability to think critically and analyse situations to make sound decisions.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team, and effectively manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Comfortable assessing strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
- Proven collaboration and active listening skills.
- 5+ years of extensive experience with IT and data projects.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems).
- Advanced analytical skills and problem-solving attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable working with a geographically distributed team, and can easily work with non-technical colleagues.
- Fluency in written and spoken English. Other languages are an asset – particularly Arabic, French, and/or Spanish.
- Proactive in keeping up to date with industry trends and innovation
- 5+ Years experience in the role of data management, information management, product management, or similar.
- Proven experience in providing humanitarian information management support during rapid onset humanitarian crises.
- Strong knowledge of data management principles, data architecture, and data integration techniques.
- Excellent skills in visualization of data and information.
- Ability to deal with varied, demanding, often conflicting, and rapidly changing workloads.

- Duty station: NRC Head Office in Oslo or any of the NRC’s Rep Offices.
- Contract: national contract, permanent contract.
- Salary/benefits: grade 10 on NRC’s regional salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
