JOB DETAIL

Result of Service

This position will be within the Protection Division of UNRWA. The work of the team broadly supports the Agency’s efforts to uphold humanitarian principles and protection and the post helps support the technical aspects, ensuring the work is evidence based, informed by good reliable data. This position will provide technical support to teams across the five fields to improve the quality of the data collected and harmonize data collection and storage procedures.

Work Location

The consultant will work remotely, but will be expected to travel to Amman, and potentially, to select UNRWA Field Offices/installations as agreed with UNRWA Protection.

Expected duration

The duration of the consultancy is four months from the start date, with scope for extension. Remuneration will be calculated on a daily fee basis for a total payment of US ($15,744.00). Payment will be made in 4 instalments.

Duties and Responsibilities

– Work with the data coordinator to ensure centralisation of data and consistent standards
across UNRWA data management systems.
– Work to enhance data management for installation assessments and strengthen the technical
solutions supporting the follow up of issues identified by the assessors.
– Train field staff where necessary.
– Support the development of reports and dashboards for Integrated assessment and align with
the IA database.
– Develop and manage Activityinfo database forms and protection cases data, and
harmonization of case management and referral of protection cases.
– Support Protection Division and other colleagues in identifying approaches and setting up
agency-wide systems for a harmonized approach to data collection, storage and reporting
across the Agency.

Qualifications/special skills

– An advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in data science, computer science, statistics, information technology, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
– At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in data management, data analysis, information technology, data collection, administration, or related field is required.
– Experience in managing data in a humanitarian setting.
– Familiarity with the Middle East context

Languages

– Excellent command of spoken and written English is required.
– Arabic language skills.
