Organizational Setting

The objective of the Department of Nuclear Energy is to foster the efficient and safe use of nuclear power by supporting interested Member States in improving the performance of nuclear power plants, the nuclear fuel cycle, and the management of nuclear wastes; in catalysing innovation in nuclear power and fuel cycle technologies; in developing indigenous capabilities for national energy planning; in deploying new nuclear power plants; in preserving and disseminating nuclear information and knowledge; and in advancing science and industry through improved operation of research reactors.

 

Main Purpose

Under this assignment the consultant will provide technical expertise to  the International Atomic Energy Agency with multiple activities needed for the IAEA Marie Sklodowska Curie Fellowship Programme (MSCFP) and the IAEA Lise Meitner Programme (LMP). The consultant will work closely with the Project Officer in enhancing the outreach activities for MSCFP and LMP, developing documents necessary for day-to-day operations, implementation of internships and planning and development of annual events (IAEA Women Talent Development Convention, Informal Technical Briefing to Member States and Annual MSCFP Nuclear Security School).

 

 

Functions / Key Results Expected

 

  • Liaise with universities, partner organizations, networks and associations in Member States to inform about MSCFP/LMP, upcoming application calls, and encourage information sharing to students and professionals;;
    – Collect date from universities on Master’s programmes in nuclear related fields (specializations, duration, enrolment data, data on female students etc.);
    – Maintain and make regular input in the database of information related to outreach and information obtained on the points above;
    – Outreach partner organizations/industry on internship possibilities for MSCFP graduates as well as assist with the implementation of internships;
    – Prepare outreach material;
    – Provide technical input for development of relevant materials and organization of the programmes’ annual events;
    – Further develop the programmes’ documents database and assist with the development of the programmes’ operational manual.

Qualifications and Experience

  •  Bachelor’s Degree – in Business Adinistration, Sciences or related fields.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in event planning and coordination, project/business/HR management.
  • Educational background in business management, social or natural sciences.
  • Good analytical, research, drafting and presentation skills.
  • Experience in  event coordination.
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English.

Remuneration

The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 200, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
