Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the Deployment Transition Manager – CAPP Programme in Centre –London, UK or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office worldwide
ROLE PURPOSE:
Save the Children International (SCI) is undergoing significant transformation across a number of core business procedures, systems, and structures, through the implementation of a number of organisational change projects.
One programme is CAPP (Coding, Agresso, PPM PRIME) which has four core strands:
- Deploys a new global financial data model and finance system (Agresso). This is referred to as Coding Project.
- Introduce a new project management methodology (PMM) to improve the quality of our programming for children.
- Deliver a technology solution (PRIME) that enables the new PMM.
- Deliver this solution not only to Save the Children International but also across the Save the Children Membership.
In order to achieve all deployments to SCI and Members offices we are structuring the programme with two projects, one deploying to SCI and one deploying to Members. This JD relates to the deployment to across SCI. The project is in the deployment phase and in 2023 we are targeting two waves of PRIME deployment and one wave of Coding deployment. A wave normally covers about 10 country offices.
This role will support the SCI Deployment Team within the CAPP Programme, with planning cutover, managing cutover plans, facilitate cutover and support sessions, and monitoring offices progress between Go Live dates for different system implementations.
The Transition Manager is responsible for acting as the work stream lead being a key conduit between Architecture, Development, Applications Support, Project, and Business teams. There are three key areas to the role:
- Oversee the technical readiness and cutover including navigating IT CAB confirming all testing complete prior to deployment to production ensuring the technical changes introduced by the project are done on time and in the right sequence.
- Oversees post go live support ensuring smooth transition to Business-as-Usual activities and the appropriate level of operational service and support is in place from the Go Live point.
- Manage and track the technical dependencies that exist between PRIME and Coding go lives.
The role holder is responsible for identifying and managing risks and/or issues and escalating to the SCI Deployment Lead when appropriate. This person is the main point of contact during the phases listed previously. This individual must first understand the ways of working of the organisation and recommend positive changes to increase collaboration among teams and drive a consistent understanding of governance and acceptance criteria.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
Project Management
- Expertise in IT Project Management, with proven ability to deliver on time, on budget and with quality utilising recognised project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE 2, AMP, PMI, Agile/Waterfall), processes, documentation, templates, and tools, including risk management and quality assurance.
- Ability to identify, analyse, plan mitigation actions, or escalate potential risks and issues.
- An understanding of “what good looks like” in terms of large-scale implementation.
Problem Management
- Evidence of strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and assess alternative options and proposals while safeguarding standards and procedures.
- Ability to categorise/prioritise problems, document root causes and swiftly implement remedial actions.
- Experience investigating issues in systems, processes, and services, understanding the level (e.g., strategic, tactical or operational), and contribute to the implementation of preventive measures or remedial actions.
- Proactivity to initiate and monitor actions to recognise patterns/trends to resolve problems and effectively consult experts where required.
Change Management
- Expertise leading and managing high impact and complex change requests to processes, systems and tools and associated documentation in response to incidents or defects originating from end user experience after transformation project implementation, understanding principles and approach.
- Expertise utilising change management tools and processes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills. Ability to understand different contexts and perspectives and adjust communication style based upon this as required.
- A strong attention to detail.

- Disposition to take ownership of issues and proactively bring teams together to resolve technical problems until owner has been identified or the problem has been mitigated or resolved. Ensuring the solutions meet business and organisational requirements. Take full accountability for the actions taken and decision made.

Technical Understanding
- Evidence of sufficient technical background to understand different core systems architecture, and impact of current trends and technical advancements.
- Capacity to understand core technical concepts related to the role and apply them with guidance to include in plans.
- Experience with cutover planning that requires knowledge of system architecture, data strategies, upgrade strategies and IT infrastructure.
- Previous exposure to service readiness and transition roles for multiple business processes and systems.
- Confident use of Microsoft Office especially Excel, email, and web browsers.
- Confident use of Jira.
Desirable
- Non-profit sector knowledge/experience
- Experience with enterprise level applications
- Proficiency in a second core language of Save the Children (French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Arabic)
We can offer circa £62,000 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply.
This role can be based in any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
