Deputy Team Leader – Emergency Department
Location: Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Emergency Department, Rhuddlan Rd, Bodelwyddan, Rhyl, Denbighshire, LL18 5UJ
Contract type: Fixed Term Until 31st March 2024
Hours per week: 18
Salary: £21,426 – £22,333 per annum pro-rata
Driving Requirement: Full driving licence allowing you to drive a manual transmission vehicle.

Fantastic opportunity has arisen for a positive, compassionate and solutions focused individual to join our Independent Living team as a Deputy Team Leader.
You will provide junior management support to the Emergency Department service. This involves direct service delivery to patients and the support and line managing of a small team of volunteers based in the Emergency Department which is a fast paced, intense, and sensitive environment. The role will also involve the individual deputising and taking responsibility for paid staff at the Emergency department when the Team Leader is not working.
A day in the life of a Deputy Team Leader will include:
Escorting patients to assigned departments.
• Collecting prescriptions to speed up their discharge.
Providing emotional support/pastoral care while they await treatment.
Providing emotional support to close friends and families.
Ensuring patients have food/drink while waiting for long hours.
Driving patients home when discharged and making sure they are safely settled at home.
Signposting and referring patients to other sources of support in the community.
Please note that this service runs from Monday to Sunday 10am to 8pm (including bank holidays) and successful candidate will be expected to commit to up to 10-hour shifts.
To be a successful Deputy Team Leader, you’ll need;
Good ICT skills across use of the internet, emailing, word processing.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Educated to at least A level or equivalent by experience.
Understanding of the challenges involved in supporting vulnerable people.
Experience of working in a team, co-operating, and supporting others.
Experience of dealing with the public.
Full driving licence allowing you to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
