JOB DETAIL

Mission and objectives

The founders of the Africa Youths for peace and Development having seen harsh realities which are being experienced by the entire continent as a result of war and the consequent violence galore which follow, decided to form the organization with the vision of continental integration for peace and development for youths in the continent. It is the belief of this organization that violence achieves no meaningful goal. Africa Youth for Peace and Development organization was formed 1995 and was finally registered in the year 2000 under the ministry of youth and sport in Sierra Leone, as a voluntary, youth development organization that aims at organizing, empowering and creating opportunities for youths and Youths groups that are in difficult circumstances. VISION To achieve a peaceful, integrated, and developed Africa where every young person, regardless of their socio-economic background, has the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society. MISSION AYPAD is committed to empowering and advocating for youth across Africa by creating sustainable opportunities for development and social integration. Through capacity building, education, sports, and cultural activities, we strive to uplift the lives of disadvantaged and marginalized youth, fostering a generation of leaders dedicated to peace and positive societal change. GOALS 1. To provide education, training, and advance employment opportunities that empower youth, particularly the marginalized and disadvantaged. 2. To promote peace and social cohesion by engaging young people in activities that foster understanding, tolerance, and unity. 3. To facilitate sustainable agricultural practices and environmental initiatives that contribute to the overall well-being of communities. 4. To strengthen the capacity of youth to advocate for their rights and actively participate in community development.

Context

Africa Youth for Peace and Development (AYPAD) has long been committed to empowering African youth and professionals through capacity building, education, and sustainable development initiatives. The Go-Far project, aligned with AYPAD’s mission, aims to provide equitable access to grant opportunities for health workers across Africa. By addressing disparities in funding access, the project contributes to AYPAD’s broader goal of promoting peace, social cohesion, and sustainable development across the continent. Africa faces significant challenges accessing health-related funding and resources, particularly in rural and underserved regions. Health workers often struggle to find opportunities for financial support that could help them address pressing healthcare needs and improve service delivery in their communities. Despite the presence of numerous grants and funding programs aimed at strengthening health systems, many African health professionals are unaware of these opportunities or lack the skills and networks to pursue them effectively. This leads to a disparity in resource allocation, stifling innovation and the implementation of much-needed health interventions. The Go-Far project, initiated by Africa Youth for Peace and Development (AYPAD), is designed to bridge this gap by providing African health workers daily access to grant opportunities. The project will create a structured platform that disseminates three relevant health-related grants daily via WhatsApp and website, ensuring that health workers are consistently informed about available resources. Go-Far will encourage participants to form small, collaborative working groups to apply for these grants, fostering teamwork, knowledge-sharing, and peer support across the continent. These groups are named from A to Z assigned by the Go-Far team, ensuring diversity and cross-country collaboration. The project focuses on disseminating information and aims to build the capacity of health workers by offering free training on grant writing, project management, and effective collaboration. Through mentorship and regular support, Go-Far seeks to equip health professionals with the skills to secure grants and implement impactful healthcare projects successfully. One of AYPAD’s core objectives is to empower marginalized groups by providing education, training, and employment opportunities. In line with this, Go-Far ensures that health workers, particularly those from underserved regions, receive the information, tools, and mentorship necessary to apply for and secure grants. This aligns with AYPAD’s mission to uplift disadvantaged individuals and communities by providing them with platforms for growth and social integration. The Go-Far project also supports AYPAD’s aim to foster collaboration and peacebuilding through community engagement. By encouraging health workers to form small, collaborative working groups, Go-Far will promote teamwork, knowledge sharing, and peer support across borders, contributing to regional integration and capacity building. These groups will be organized to work together on grant applications, fostering unity and collective problem-solving
