Duties and Responsibilities
Background: The services of an Individual Contractor (IC) are needed to assist ESCWA in developing online courses and related digital content in the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) and other units, in addition to other related tasks as mentioned below. The IC will work under the supervision of the Knowledge Management Team leader (KM) and the Strategy, Planning, Accountability, Results, and Knowledge Section SPARK/OES coordinator. Duties and Responsibilities: • Stages of the course production, using new and artistic techniques and existing editing software packages (Articulate 360, Storyline 360, Rise 360). • Research visual identity and branding and create a strong brand identity for the online course. • Creates and executes, in the official languages of the ESCWA, all products requested (Videos, storylines, Interactive exercises, scenarios, posters, brochures, electronic files such as interactive PDF), using editing software and Adobe software package such as InDesign CC, Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, Acrobat CC, Adobe XD, HTML, CSS, Word, Excel, etc. • Editing online content to support organizational goals and messaging themes, incorporating innovative techniques and styles, and bringing a unique and artistic perspective to the project. • Manipulate and edit videos, insert voice-overs and scripts, sound effects, bring sight and sound together to tell a cohesive story, and correct errors using editing equipment and software packages such as Premiere Pro, Acrobat Pro, and more. • Utilize After Effects and 3D effects experience to add dynamic elements and visual enhancements to the project. • Creates infographics from information submitted by the client that will help communicate complex information in a simple manner. • Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed.
Qualifications/special skills
A Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, graphic arts, or related field is required. At least 4 years of experience in graphic arts, or related field is required. Knowledge of the latest technology and digital equipment is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required. Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
