Title of Assignment: World Intellectual Property Day Campaign, and Digital Outreach Consultant

Name of unit/sector: Information and Digital Outreach Division, Copyright and Creative Industries Sector

Place of Assignment: Hybrid (HQ/remote)

Expected duration of assignment: December 1, 2023 to November 30, 2024 (renewaable for 12 further months).

1. Objective of the assignment

In consultation with, and under the guidance of, the Head of the WIPO Knowledge Centre (WKC) , Information and Digital Outreach Division, the Officer will coordinate and support the roll out and delivery of the annual World Intellectual Property Day campaign on April 26 2024, and plan and prepare for the 2025 campaign, in line with the Organization’s strategic goals; and manage digital communications for the WKC.

2. Deliverables/services

In consultation with the Head of the WKC and other relevant colleagues, the World IP Day Campaign Officer will:
– Support the roll out and delivery of the annual World Intellectual Property Day campaign on April 26, 2024.
– Plan, design, implement and monitor creative digital communications strategies to ensure effective outreach to external audiences, especially youth, women and SMEs, building on WIPO’s existing communications assets.
– Coordinate with relevant in-house teams and track deliverables for the annual campaign.
– Liaise with relevant teams across WIPO to coordinate actions in support of World IP Day 2024.
– Liaise with the News and Media Division and other in-house partners to ensure promotion of the campaign among key constituents and target audiences, including via digital media.
– Roll out and manage the World IP Day Video Competition and coordinate its promotion.
– Manage a panel of judges and provide administrative support to secure funding of the prizes.
– Liaise with relevant technical colleagues to support the delivery of the upgraded World IP Day Events calendar to ensure it serves as a compelling engagement tool with functionality in the 8 campaign languages and “share button” capabilities.
– Liaise with relevant technical colleagues to ensure the World IP Day Gallery is adapted to the needs of the campaign theme.
– Act as a focal point for the annual World IP Day campaign.
– Engage with relevant in-house teams to provide digital communications support for campaign-related events and coordinate technical support for selected high-profile physical and virtual campaign events at headquarters.
– Collaborate with relevant colleagues in the Publications and Design Section, News and Media Division and other in-house teams to ensure timely delivery and dissemination of core WKC campaign assets – that meet SEO requirements.
– Manage the World IP Day mailbox and respond to enquiries as necessary.
– Compile and analyze web and social media statistics as necessary, including in relation to external funding, and report on campaign results.
– Develop and promote assets for the WKC digital communications channels.
– Plan and prepare for the 2025 World Intellectual Property Day campaign.
– Any other tasks, as required.

3. Reporting 

The contractor will report to the Head of the WKC, Information and Digital Outreach Division, and will deliver agreed tasks by the agreed schedule.

4. Profile 

A motivated professional with proven experience in running international communications campaigns for global audiences, ideally in the area of intellectual property

Education
University degree in English, law, journalism, communications, marketing, development studies or other relevant discipline.

Experience

Essential:
At least 5 years of professional experience with progressively higher levels of responsibility in managing public communications campaigns for a global audience including social media.

Skills

Essential:
Excellent interpersonal skills, a team player with demonstrated experience in working with creative and technical professionals.
A proven ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Effective communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to research and write content, with facility in adapting it to different audiences and channels, including the web and social media.
Understanding of best practices in web user experience, SEO and social media.
Ability to work in parallel on multiple projects at different stages for different mediums and audiences and to tight deadlines. Ability to maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Self-motivated and creative with meticulous attention to detail.

Desirable:
Experience of writing and editing legal content for non-specialist audiences.
Understanding of trends in content strategy and creation as well as digital marketing.
Good understanding of intellectual property and its role in supporting economic, social and cultural development.

Languages

Essential:
Fluent English.

Desirable:
Good knowledge of other official UN languages

5. Duration of contract and payment

Start date: November 1, 2023
End date: October 31, 2024 (renewable up to 24 months maximum)

Activity rate: full-time

Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations in Swiss francs (daily rate).
