Salary: Cira £40,000 per annum plus Inner London Weighting if relevant
Hours: 35 per week
Contract Type: Fixed term contract (18 months)
Are you ready to strategically own and enhance web platforms, making a meaningful impact in supporting people in crisis with the British Red Cross?
This Digital Platform Manager strategically owns and maximises two web platforms within the British Red Cross’s digital estate to better support people in crisis: the business-critical redcross.org.uk and our first aid teaching resource, firstaidchampions.redcross.org.uk.
The role liaises with stakeholders and delivery teams to oversee platform improvements and feature releases, maintains a strong feedback loop with platform users to ensure their needs are continually being met, and plays a hands-on role in contributing to the continuing growth and development of digital practices at the British Red Cross.
A day in the life of a Digital Platform Manager will involve:
Working with the Digital Product Lead and stakeholders to develop and maintain the platform roadmap aligned with strategic objectives.
Communicating regularly with stakeholders and platform users, ensuring they understand the value of platform improvements and identifying new opportunities.
Monitoring and reporting on platform KPIs for performance, accessibility, SEO, and security.
Managing the platform budget alongside the Digital Product Lead to ensure continuous maintenance and enhancements.
Contributing to evolving the culture and practices of digital platform management with colleagues.
Collaborating with stakeholders and partners to identify, scope, and deliver platform improvements.
Prioritising and overseeing the development process, ensuring quality work and adherence to objectives.
Overseeing platform support – including user management, troubleshooting, training and guidance – delegating responsibilities to colleagues where appropriate.
To be a successful Digital Platform Manager, you’ll need:
Strong knowledge of web Content Management Systems, product management, Agile methodologies, UX/UI best practices, and basic HTML/CSS.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) to engage diverse audiences, handle pressure, and manage conflicting priorities.
Familiarity with Sitecore, Umbraco, WordPress CMS, cloud computing, programming languages (e.g., .NET, PHP, jQuery, JavaScript), and databases (MySQL, SQL) would be desirable.
To have worked in digital delivery/product management roles, agile teams, and with multiple stakeholders. Must have delivered training to platform users and have previous experience of managing budgets.
To embrace and leads change, collaborates effectively, communicates and influences persuasively, finds solutions, and balances critical and appreciative approaches.
Adaptability to changing environments and previous experience in the not-for-profit sector.
