Duties and Responsibilities
The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote regional cooperation for inclusive economic and social development in the Asian and Pacific region. ESCAP’s role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership, through its analytical, normative and technical cooperation, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region. The Digital Transformation Unit (DTU) Internship is located in the Information Management, Communication and Technology Section (IMCTS) within the Division of Administration and is for a period of two to six months depending on the needs of the division. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member within IMCTS DTU in the Division of Administration. Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned team as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to: * Assist in planning and executing the rollout of PowerApps across various business units. * Support the setup and configuration of PowerApps environments and solutions. * Assist in developing custom applications and solutions using PowerApps to meet the specific needs of different business units. * Assist in customizing and enhancing existing PowerApps applications based on user feedback and requirements. * Identify opportunities for automating business processes using PowerApps and Power Automate. * Assist in conducting thorough testing of PowerApps solutions to ensure functionality, performance, and security.
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants to the programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: – be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or – be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Shall be computer literate in standard software applications; Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
