Introduction
The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people.

Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 216 projects in 129 countries and has committed USD 12.0 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Internship Assignment

The pipeline management intern will provide operational and administrative support to the Division of Mitigation and Adaptation (DMA). S/he will have the opportunity to learn and expand her/his experiences by providing assistance in the pipeline management, GCF platform enhancement, DMA divisional level operational matters, and respondence to any of DMA pipeline/portfolio related reporting requests.

Under the overall guidance of the designated primary and alternate supervisors within the DMA, the Intern is expected to:

  • Assist in the collection, verification, analysis and dissemination of data needed for reports, presentations and other knowledge products related to the management of the pipeline of projects for the public sector;
  • Provide assistance in the project cycle management and pipeline prioritization including the review meeting scheduling and documentation;
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of online systems relevant to pipeline management and project review;
  • Serve as the main focal point for Climate Investment Committee (CIC) meetings to provide support for agenda setting, uploading of documents and CIC scheduling in coordination with project team(s) and CIC secretary; and
  • Support any additional analytical and operational tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements and qualifications

  • Enrolled in Master’s program in the fields of economics, development economics, data science, finance or related fields;
  • Knowledge and experience with data visualization tool such as Tableau, etc is plus.
  • Good understanding and experience in operations of international organization and project cycle management is an added advantage;
  • Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access;
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills;
  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French and Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage.
