IFC’s Gender and Economic Inclusion Department: IFC works to advance gender equality and economic inclusion in the private sector, enabling companies and economies to improve their performance. IFC does this through market-moving research, direct investment and by providing advice to clients, and innovative and catalytic partnerships. IFC’s Gender and Economic Inclusion Department works towards a private and public sector that provides all genders and underserved communities with equal opportunities to participate in and benefit from the economy, and to live a good life. IFC has elevated the Gender and Economic Inclusion work to a department with a dedicated Director to enhance IFC’s ability to scale-up our gender and economic inclusion operations across the corporation and support efforts to deliver on the new World Bank Group (WBG) Gender Strategy (2024-30), including IFC’s 2030 Vision.
The team is seeking a passionate, energetic, and experienced Extended Term Consultant (ETC) to coordinate work on gender in the private sector in Europe and to support the finalization and dissemination of the WBG Gender Strategy (2024 – 2030). The scope of the role includes: coordinating with World Bank and relevant IFC counterparts related to the WBG Gender Strategy; gender flagging, delivery of gender advisory to private sector clients; corporate support and capacity building; project management including reporting and fundraising; and communication.
Additionally, The ETC will lead the Rodzina Employment Project, a three-year project that aims to support the Private Sector in Poland to create family-friendly workplaces for Polish employees and migrant employees, mainly from Ukraine. The project is expected to include a landscape analysis of childcare supply and demand; a peer learning platform of leading employers; and deep dive advisory support to [2] companies that hire migrants to help them implement family-friendly solutions and Psychological First Aid.
In cooperation with FIG, support care entrepreneurs through financial and non-financial services.
Duties and Accountabilities
World Bank Group Gender Strategy
• Represent IFC in standing meetings associated with the finalization of the WBG Gender Strategy, including plans for launch and dissemination.
• Liaise with IFC Communications team to contribute to design of and implementation of the Gender Strategy dissemination plans.
• Support briefing senior management as needed in relation to meetings or written communication with external stakeholders and internal management or board meetings.
Corporate Strategy, Gender Flagging
• Ensure adequate gender flagging and gender integration into project documentation such as Concept Notes, Implementation Plans, Board Papers, Anticipated Impact Measurement and Monitoring (AIMM) system reviews and communications publications.
• Monitor the corporate gender KPI, prepare quarterly gender flagging reports, manage the quality of gender flagging across the region, and other reporting as needed.
• Disseminate tools, resources, and training to support regional gender initiatives.
Program Management and Client Advisory Delivery
• Lead the development and implementation of the Rodzina Employment Project.
• Support fundraising efforts in the region for gender projects.
• Ensure advisory projects move smoothly through the project cycle, including compliance with WBG and IFC internal systems, AS project governance, iPortal, IBIS, legal documentation, and compliance with all procurement processes and financial reporting.
• Monitor, measure, and report on project results using IFC reporting systems (iPortal), track performance indicators against targets, and support the program lead in producing periodic project supervision reports and donor reports.
• Collaborate with other IFC and WBG colleagues (i.e., other department gender teams, results measurement, communications, legal, client relationship managers, partnerships, regional/country teams, and global specialists) for innovation and program success.
• Monitor the work plan, budget, human resources, timeline, and deliverables.
• Develop and maintain relationships with project clients, building commitment to the project and ensuring that their needs are met.
• Draft key project documents including pitch books, project work plans, and project service agreements.
• Develop and support Advisory Service delivery models that allow IFC to reach scale while maintaining quality services and maximum impact with clients, including through the selective and appropriate use of internal and external consultants, firms, and partners.
Knowledge Management and Communications
• Systematically collect and analyze lessons learned from project implementation and share with colleagues across the World Bank Group.
• Foster innovation and knowledge exchange between IFC colleagues involved in the program and other key partners.
• Produce case studies highlighting the business case for action, lessons from implementation, and results.
• Work with the IFC Communications teams to develop communications strategy and materials and influencing strategy to promote uptake of good practice responses to workplace violence and harassment among private sector stakeholders.
Selection Criteria
• Master’s degree in economics, finance, business administration, international development, or gender studies.
• At least 8 years of relevant work experience, including in delivering gender analysis and gender-smart advisory solutions.
• Proven track record in managing projects and delivering evidence-based, innovative solutions; proven ability to design and implement gender engagements for private sector clients.
• Strong understanding of IFC processes and procedures, related to IFC advisory work.
• Strong project management skills with proven ability to support the execution of projects, management of resources, and delivery against timelines.
• Demonstrated ability to perform well in teams and collaborate in matrix organizations.
• Ability to travel and work across time zones.
• Commitment to IFC and the World Bank Group’s mission, strategy, and values.
• Direct experience of delivering gender advisory projects in the region is preferred.
