The Syndicated Loans and Debt Mobilization Department (“CSL”) is tasked with raising external funds for IFC clients through the B Loan program, Parallel Loans, Credit Insurance Policies (“CIP”), the Managed Co-Lending Portfolio Program (“MCPP”), and Debt Securities Syndication (“DSS”). Our syndications partners are international and local commercial banks, Development Finance Institutions (“DFI”), funds and institutional investors. The Department is also responsible for the ongoing syndicated loan portfolio management engagements with third-party investors.
CSL is seeking an Extended Term Consultant (“ETC”) in the central Syndications Operations team, based in Washington, DC. The ETC will focus on the remediation from Libor to SOFR for the syndicated loan portfolio projects and will have an opportunity to work on regular syndications activities as part of the CSL global portfolio and new business engagement, time permitting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Libor to SOFR remediation process:
• Participate in all LIBOR to SOFR remediation activities for the department with the lead officer.
• Participate in data management and reporting of the global LIBOR portfolio for the department.
• Participate in the remediation process for assigned projects, provide support and guidance on the remediation process to projects in all regions, and for projects managed globally by the CSL portfolio team.
• Participate in the central corporate transition teams alongside the lead officer.
Regular Syndications activities:
• Follow international lending markets and banking activities to understand and anticipate trends.
• Conduct industry and bank market research and pricing data analysis, including secondary market pricing; prepare regular pricing reports for syndicated loans.
• Conduct deal-specific market soundings to advise IFC project team on deal structure and pricing; develop list of prospective banks and syndication strategy for individual syndications.
• Review company, economic and financial information and legal documentation for new transactions.
• Prepare information memoranda, executive summaries and other reports for the bank market in collaboration with relevant Investment Department.
• Active involvement in the syndication of IFC B Loans, parallel loans and MCPP loans, and IFC A Loan participation in the secondary market.
• Manage assigned syndicated loan portfolio, alongside the lead Officer, by providing high-quality service to B Loan participants/parallel lenders/MCPP investors on ongoing project work (amendments, waivers, restructurings, information transmission on key developments, responding to inquiries).
• Ensuring contractual responsibilities with B Loan participants/parallel lenders/MCPP investors are being met while at the same time managing these syndicated loan portfolio relationships.
• Support analytical and data management activities in support of global portfolio activities – including reporting and knowledge management.
Selection Criteria
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or an equivalent discipline. An M.B.A. or equivalent master’s level degree in finance is a plus.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably with a leading international bank or other financial institution in emerging markets, and including broad exposure to corporate & project finance, capital markets and the syndicated loan market.
• Understanding of international commercial bank market and main financial products, including loans, swaps and CDS.
• Understanding of loan documentation and credit issues.
• Experience in managing data systems and reporting.
• Proactive, resourceful and self-motivated.
• Strong team player, with demonstrated capacity for hard work.
• Able to manage multiple tasks concurrently, prioritize effectively and adhere to deadlines while always paying attention to details.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and strong editing skills. A good command of one or more regional languages (Spanish, French and/or Portuguese) would be an advantage.
