The Capital Management & Enterprise Risk (CRMCA) of the Corporate Risk Management Department (CRM) is the corporate oversight unit for operational risk management (ORM) in IFC. Its main role is to develop and implement processes and tools to identify, assess, monitor and report on operational risks inherent in IFC’s operations, and thereby advise business process owners on how to effectively manage these risks. The unit also supports the business in defining and implementing solutions to address operational risk issues. CRMCA also facilitates knowledge sharing and dissemination of best practices on managing operational risk.
 
The program is designed based on an enterprise approach to assessing operational risks. Under this approach, the work program focuses on identifying, assessing and managing material operational risk issues that impact IFC’s key business pillars, namely, debt, equity, advisory service and treasury; as well as business support, corporate and shared services functions.  CRMCA works on risk initiatives based on materiality, value add to the business and/or process improvements; disseminating lessons learned from past operational risk events; and revising the operational risk management directive, framework, procedures and tools as needed. Furthermore, CRMCA works with IFC’s networks in IFC.
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
 
CRMCA is seeking one ETC to provide support in delivering its program. As such, s/he will be expected to be part of teams on specific assignments related to the development and implementation of the ORM program. These assignments will include the following duties and responsibilities:
 
•  Contribute to CRMCA’s overall ORM program.
•  Actively participate in ORM activities such as conducting Risk Assessments; performing Root Cause Analyses; Scenario Analysis; among others.
•  Contribute to initiatives with operational and support departments to develop and implement solutions to operational risk issues.
•  Conduct data analysis work related to ORM data from activities conducted as part of the ORM program.
•  Provide support on the ORM system work. 
•  Contribute to develop learning and knowledge material and present them through learning events.
•  Help promote and raise awareness of operational risk(s) through various channels.

 

Selection Criteria

 

•  A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Finance, Business, Engineering, Mathematics or related areas. 
•  Experience in a financial institution (2 years) with a proven track record.
•  Strong analytical and problem solving skills and sound business judgment to identify issues and present creative and practical solutions.   
•  Facility to work successfully in multicultural teams and across boundaries.    
•  Strong client service orientation with an openness to feedback and new ideas.    
•  Excellent presentation skills.     
•  Ability to handle pressure and meet strict deadlines.
•  Experience working with Risk Management, Internal Controllers or Auditing would be a plus.
