To support the Country Management Unit IFC is currently seeking an Associate Operations Officer/ Country Officer to join the team in Jakarta.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Associate Operations Officer/ Country Officer will support the Country Management Unit to set the country strategy and inform IFC management decision making. The (A)CO will gather market intelligence, and analyze strategically important portfolio trends, and emerging risks and opportunities; providing insight on economic, political and commercial issues ongoing in Indonesia. Duties and accountabilities include:
• Assist the Country and Regional Management team with project management, planning, and monitoring of deliverables, ensuring timely and high-quality execution while maintaining discretion and professionalism.
• Support development and preparation of country strategies and input into internal briefing, strategy and communication materials; and input on both IFC and World Bank project documentation
• Support preparation of inward and outward visits from IFC Staff and Management; co-ordinate meeting agenda and prepare necessary supporting materials; and prepare materials to support high level meetings between IFC and senior Indonesian counterparts
• Support organization, and prepare documentation for events and activities to promote IFC in Indonesia.
• Engage with World Bank colleagues to understand WB strategy and support IFC CMU to create synergies in program operations for amplified impact.
• Collaborate with the country team on IFC joint initiatives with other development partners and support fundraising efforts with key shareholders
• Contribute to pipeline development across all industry groups by providing relevant industry data, company analysis, comparator analysis, and research.
• Act as the primary contact for data/research and operational/resource support work in the region, as directed by the Country Manager and Regional management team.
• Extract, manipulate, and present data from internal and external databases for various audiences, ensuring accuracy and consistency while regularly updating and maintaining information.
• Review relevant documents/reports for alignment with strategy documents and provide research/analytical support for work products and other tasks as directed by the Country Manager.
• Guide project teams on country context, IFC role, strategic fit, World Bank Group objectives, local markets, pipeline, and portfolio under the Country Manager’s direction.
• Stay informed on current advisory and investment operations and promptly address queries from Regional Management, HQ Management, and staff.
• Build and maintain a working-level network in the Indonesia government/business ecosystem to support IFC’s business development priorities in Indonesia and the region.
• Support CMU to effectively manage the Jakarta office and assist in the upcoming renovation
Selection Criteria
• Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or equivalent
• 5 -8 years of relevant professional experience in investment services, development finance or business strategy
• Knowledge and understanding of IFC, World Bank or a comparable development financial institution an advantage
• Understanding of Indonesia’s business, economic and political context and its potential impact on IFC Business and Strategy
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Bahasa.
• Excellent computer skills, including spreadsheet work and preparation of PowerPoint presentations and an ability to conduct research on the web on a wide variety of topics.
• Strong team skills with the ability to work across organizational boundaries with ease.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Experience of IFC or World Bank strategy and familiarity with IFC databases (such as MIS, RMS, and other iDesk applications) would be an advantage.
• Ability to thrive under pressure and function effectively in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines, while working on multiple projects.
