The Operations Officer position is with the Front Office of the Vice President of Cross-Cutting Solutions (CCSVP) and will be based in Washington DC.
The CCSVP is responsible for identifying opportunities for closer collaboration and coordination across IFC and the entire World Bank Group to deliver solutions for clients. This involves overseeing work in four areas:
• to proactively create markets and enable the conditions for investments.
• to design effective public-private partnerships and targeted corporate finance solutions to maximize the private sector’s role in development.
• to ensure that environmental, social, and governance (ESG) best practices are embedded throughout IFC’s projects.
• and to design private sector strategies that enable all genders and underserved communities to participate fully in the economy.
Duties and Accountabilities
The Operations Officer will work closely with the two Advisers of the Vice President and when needed will be asked to coordinate activities with the Directors and Managers of the Departments, mapped to the Cross-Cutting Solutions Unit.
Process Management, Research & Drafting
• Support the research and drafting process for meeting briefs, external presentations, summary notes, official correspondence, and other relevant documents, as needed.
• Anticipate and assist with the sourcing of relevant background materials for meetings. Proofread documents and ensure high-quality of internal & external deliverables.
• Stay abreast of the VP’s information flow, flag important issues, draft proposed correspondence and ensure prompt follow-up.
• Be actively involved in the preparatory process for the VP’s participation in externally facing events, conferences, interviews.
• Take and organize minutes during high-level meetings and ensure follow-up activities are documented and implemented.
• Provide quality control by monitoring documents for accuracy and adherence to standards.
Knowledge Management & Coordination
• Assist the Front Office in ensuring that lessons of experience from PPP, Upstream, E&S, and Gender Inclusion activities are captured, curated and disseminated across IFC Operations and contribute to the WBG’s global knowledge bank.
• Support the formulation and organization of an active collaborative knowledge management system that would include Briefing Notes, Thematic Reports, Flagship Reports and other relevant documents.
• Establish and maintain an effective network of contacts within the Unit to ensure effective cooperation and support.
• Act as an integral part of the team, supporting the VP for Cross-Cutting Solutions.
• Undertake other ad-hoc duties when needed to support the VP and the advisors of the VP.
Selection Criteria
• Master’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, statistics, social sciences, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in project management, international development, finance, policy or related.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with different stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
• Proactive attitude and high level of discretion.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
